We're living in a time where everyone seems to have a prophetic word on the tip of their tongue ready to release. In a way it's encouraging because, it shows the Body of Christ is awakening. It's no longer just about the prophets releasing prophetic utterances, but as a believer you can as well. In Joel 2:28 the Lord declares,”It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind, and your sons and daughters will prophesy.” In 1 Corinthians 14:1 Paul encourages us to pursue the spiritual gifts especially to prophesy.” The Lord gave us this gift to be a blessing to the Body and each other. The Lord gave us the gift of prophecy to edify, exhort, and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3).
Although multitudes are prophesying, many don't understand the prophetic utterances they're releasing. When there is no wisdom and understanding coupled with the prophetic utterance, it's immature and incomplete. Immature in the sense that, the prophetic utterance is not fully developed. Proverbs 4:7 states, “Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting get understanding.” Many are not using wisdom when it comes to releasing their prophetic utterances. We should never release a word over someone or a situation without the Lord's wisdom to apply it. It could be the right word but when applied wrong, it will not get the results it was intended for.
It's imperative to understand prophetic utterances carry a weight to them, that is meant to bring a shift or movement when released. When there is no understanding, there is no depth to the prophetic utterance being released. Many try to prostitute the Spirit of God for prophetic words, instead of seeking after the Father for relationship. The Lord shares His secrets with His friends. Are you a friend of God? Can he trust you with His secrets? In reality, a prophetic utterance will only be as deep as your relationship with the Lord is. We must learn to love the Lord more than the prophetic utterance we get and release.
As prophets and prophetic people we need to learn to allow the Lord to develop our prophetic utterance, and allow it to go deep. Many release prophetic utterances from the shallow places, instead of from the depths of God. Psalm 49:4, “I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will disclose my dark saying on the harp.” When David gained understanding of the prophetic utterance God was releasing to him, he could then articulate it on the harp. His articulation on the harp shifted atmospheres and caused demons to flee.
One can have some of the greatest dreams, visions, and revelations, but if it cannot be articulated it will fall flat with no movement. It's enticing to release words when we get them, but not all words are meant to be revealed immeadiately. Some utterances require a time of cultivation to bring about the fullness of the word. When we prematurely release words it lacks the impact intended. At times God will test the word given to us, to make sure our character can carry the weight and impact the utterance will have. Timing is key and important in releasing prophetic utterances.
Prophetic utterances are meant to impart wisdom, direction, destiny, and illumination. Another important part of articulating your prophetic utterance, is weighing a person's ability to receive it. As stated before, we must learn to love the person more than the prophetic utterance to release, If we release prophetic utterances when a person is not ready, it will produce chaos in their lives. We have a responsibility as ones giving prophetic utterances to others to steward it well.
There are no shortcuts to gaining greater revelations. It comes down to relationship, and the depth of relationship you're willing to pursue after. The weight of Him placed upon your utterances is found in the depths of Him. Psalm 42:7 declares, “Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls. All your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.” The depths of God are calling out to the depths of God in you. He calls out the deep places in you to bring forth His dark sayings to articulate. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you, and give you the wisdom and understanding needed to fully articulate the prophetic utterances released to you. If we cannot fully articulate our prophetic utterances, then other are unable to inhabit the fullness God intended. Articulation releases the momentum and manifestation of God to shift and transform us.
