There’s so much media hype about Jason Collins coming out as gay. Alan Colmes, the liberal political commentator on the Fox News Channel, invited me on his radio program, to discuss it.
Apparently, he had read a few of my articles, including Why I’m Praying for First Openly Gay NBA Player. He had also read Why NFL Players Should Stay in the Closet.
Here’s how Colmes teased the spot: “Should Jason Collins repent before it is too late? Charisma Magazine news editor Jennifer LeClaire talks to Alan about why the NBA player should have never come out.”
Based on what Colmes wrote about Chris Broussard on his blog, I figured it would be an interesting experience. Colmes wrote, “It didn’t take long, as Chris Broussard decided that Jason Collins can’t be a good Christian if he’s gay.”
Although Colmes challenged me over and again, he was respectful and acknowledged that I took a kind approach to the topic. I agreed that many Christians do take a hateful stance that is harmful to people.
