SHOW NOTES

When it comes to the lunch menu most schools tend to stick to tried-and-tested classics, but some pupils in Wales are being served up bug bolognese for their lunch, according to Yahoo Life UK.

The idea is to replace beef.

This news comes at the same time ranchers are selling off their cattle in unprecedented numbers due to the drought. Michael Snyder of End of the American Dream says this has enormous implications for 2023.

We are truly living in the end times.

Today’s broadcast is brought to you by The End Times Watchman: The Prophetic Intercessor’s Guide to Watching and Praying through the Last Days. While Bill Gates is buying up farmland in America, children in Wales are part of an experiment to save the planet—by eating bugs.

And who is right there to support the cause? Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish environmental activist who is known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action for climate change migration. Listen in to her pitch for why we should eat creepy crawlies like contestants on Survivor.

Doubtless, if you live in America you’ve seen the Chick-fil-A billboards with the cows urging us to “eat more chicken.: Now the chickens are urging us to eat more bugs.

Children in Wales are eating bugs for lunch. According to a Yahoo report, Chef Andy Holcroft said the new bug-based school lunches appeal to kids.

“It’s about making healthy food exciting,” he said. “Almost 70-80% of kids wanted to learn more about sustainability after having the meal.”

The BBC issued a report about why insects are the sustainable superfood of the future. And a gas station in Japan is offering edible insects through vending machines. I know John the Baptist at locusts and wild honey, but I’ve always wondered how much honey he needed to choke them down.

Of course, the bugs are packaged in a way that looks more appealing, but still… I have tried the cricket protein bars and I could not tolerate the taste. Perhaps I should have added a little honey.

Apparently, Nicole Kidman is cool with it. Listen in to her pitch for fine bug dining, sponsored by the World Economic Forum.

Nasty. But are we destined to dine on bugs?

CNN is reporting farmers are being forced to sell their cows as drought conditions worsen across the US. Last year, CNN reports, severe drought in the West forced 40% of farmers to sell off part of their herds, according to an AFBF survey. Now, inflationary costs for things like feed, fertilizer, and fuel are only making the situation worse. Many cows are headed to auction.

This is all happening in the context of the worst global food crisis in decades, says Snyder, and he’s encouraging people to stock up on beef while it’s cheap because the outlook for 2023 and beyond is not promising.

So what are we to do? I haven’t had a dream like Pharoah’s when he saw the seven fat cows and the seven skinny cows. But this situation certainly reminds me of the account in Genesis.

We need Joseph’s in this hour who have strategies to sustain the food supply. But, at the same time, we need to recognize the signs of the times. Jesus said there would be famines. According to NPR, a record number of people worldwide are moving toward starvation. And experts expect it to get much worse in the months ahead with 50 million people in 45 countries just one step away from famine.

So, how do we pray:

Pray for divine strategies, like God gave Joseph.

Pray God would provide what we need and sustain us from day to day; that He would give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:11).

Pray for awakening and transforming revival amidst the food crisis; that the harvesters would know that Jesus is the bread of life and whoever comes to Him would never hunger or thirst (John 6:35) as they set out to win souls.

Declare supernatural divine provision over the church and nations in that resources would be provided to assist individuals and communities in need of food (James 2:15-17)

Pray for His people and nations to have the skill, gift, and discipline of managing and distributing resources wisely.

Pray for miracles of multiplication where necessary (John 6:1-15; 2 Kings 4:42-44).

Pray the Lord will answer those in need of food; that He will not forsake them (Isaiah 41:17).

Decree and declare the Lord is bringing His people into a good land without scarceness and lack (Deuteronomy 8:9).

Pray the love of God to abide in the hearts of His people to help those in a time of food shortage (1 John 3:17).

Pray for the Lord to have mercy on and heal the hungry (Psalm 6:2).

Pray more intercessors would rise to stand in the gap for those suffering from famine; to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them; for He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous (Matthew 5: 44-45)

Pray and ask the Lord for the rain; that the earth would be replenished and fruitful for agriculture (Zechariah 10:1).
