SHOW NOTES

A few weeks ago while at my church, Awakening House of Prayer in Ft. Lauderdale, the Holy Spirit told me to call up someone from the Ukraine to pray over them. I had no idea there was someone in my church from Ukraine. But the Holy Spirit knows everything.

In today’s Praying the News, I want to take a moment to pray for the people of Ukraine—particularly those who have been displaced from their homes, traumatized, and overcome with unimaginable pain. I also want to tell you how you can actively help the people of Ukraine.

This is Jennifer LeClaire, and this is Praying the News.

Behind the scenes of the Russian invasion are real Ukrainian people who have lives, loves, jobs and churches just like us. But by the grace of God, there go we. We have to remember that and not grow numb to the tragedy we see on 24/7 news channels.

Civilian casualties are starting to dominate the headlines as Russian President Validmir Putin’s war crimes pile up. Putin can deny it all he wants. The truth is his war machine is purposely targeting civilian hospitals and residential buildings.

Fox News reported about one of the most barbaric attacks in Ukraine so far. Listen in.

We need to pray or we’ll see more stories like these. We need to continue to push back this darkness over the Ukrainian people. We need to see the Ukrainian people and war with and for them.

When the Holy Spirit told me to call someone up from the Ukraine to pray for them a few weeks ago, I was so caught up with everything else the Holy Spirit was doing that it slipped my mind. After service, I was out in the lobby and a woman with her daughter approached me saying they’ve been visiting.

I asked, “Where are you from?” She said, “Ukraine.” She was born there. I couldn’t believe it.

This past week, I called her and her daughter up to interview them and pray with them. Listen in.

It made a real impact on our congregation to see someone actually from Ukraine. It’s one thing to watch all this in the news. It’s another to worship alongside someone who is directly affected by Putin’s terror campaign.

So, how can you help the people of Ukraine? You can donate to a good cause. God led us to donate to an orphanage in Ukraine. We raised $15,000 in a double-matching grant to the orphanage. You can help us in that cause at jenniferleclaire.org/missions.

You can also pray. Prayer works.

Pray God will hide the people of Ukraine under His wings, keeping them safe from violence.

Pray for orphans, widows, the infirmed, pregnant and elderly people who are at greater risks than those who have mobility.

Pray for the refugees to find safe places to live and work.

Pray for God to guard the hearts and minds of traumatized Ukrainian people. Pray for the church in Ukraine, Russia and across the region to continue standing strong in this onslaught.

Pray for lost souls in Ukraine to find Jesus.

Pray for justice for the Ukrainian people.

Pray for peace in Ukraine.

Of course, continue praying for the war to end and for justice to come to Putin. Putin needs to face a Haman moment. He's trying to destroy the Ukrainian people. But God sees and as we pray for justice, he will face the gallows he held out for the Ukrainian people. It may not be today or tomorrow. But justice is coming.
