The blueprint Jesus modeled is the best blueprint to follow.

By Joe Joe Dawson

The life of Jesus was a life of prayer. The life Jesus lived out before us showed us that prayer produces presence, purpose and power. Jesus got up early in the morning and prayed, Jesus stayed up late at night and prayed, Jesus prayed all night before he picked the twelve disciples. Basically, Jesus’s life was built around the communication he had with God the Father.

The strength of Jesus was in His communication with God the Father. Mark 1:32-39 says, “At evening when the sun had set they brought to Him all who were sick in those who were demon possessed. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons, and He did not allow the demons to speak because they knew Him.” After Jesus had spent a night of ministering, you would think He would sleep in the next morning and get some natural rest. But these verses clearly state that long before daylight Jesus was in the secret place of prayer talking to the Father, because Jesus knew that He was going to preach in Galilee that day and wanted to be full of God. Prayer produces presence, purpose and power.

The definition of purpose is “the reason something was created or why something exists”. The word purpose is broken down into two parts ‘pur’ which means to set before and ‘pose’ meaning to stage or position something. God has gone before you and He is standing you up to position you for His purpose!

Psalms 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; your steadfast love, oh Lord, endures forever.” God is setting you up and positioning you in the right place to fulfill the destiny He has on your life. The word destiny means invincible necessity. There is nothing in this world that is invincible except for God, and the word necessity means that it must happen. So the Lord is positioning you to do something for Him that cannot be stopped and it is very important to the Kingdom of God.

The Lord is setting you up right now to fulfill your Kingdom purpose. Not everything in your life will make sense. But in the right time, it will all be revealed to benefit God’s purpose for your life. The reason God placed that amazing purpose on your life is because He needs it to be fulfilled on the earth to impact and change many people. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I already knew you, and ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Before you were even created naturally, supernaturally God already had a plan for your life.

The life of Jesus Christ was one filled with power. Jesus walked in an amazing authority of the Kingdom of God and demonstrated the power everywhere He went. Jesus also taught the disciples this principle. When Jesus and the apostles spoke in the Bible the word states that they taught on the kingdom of God and  signs, wonders and miracles followed.

1 Corinthians 4:20 says, “For the kingdom of God does not consist of talk, but of power.” Jesus made sure that He just didn’t teach the doctrine of the kingdom but demonstrated it as well. Too many times we have people who are lacking in their prayer life, which means they are lacking in the intimate relationship with the Lord. They don’t have the confidence to step out on the word of God and declare miracles over people.

Remember we must stand in the authority and power that God has given us. Ephesians 6:10 says, “Now finally, my beloved ones, be supernaturally infused with strength through your life union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of His explosive power flowing in and through you.” When you are a person of prayer, you will be strengthened through your union with the Trinity. Knowing God personally, you will be flowing in that explosive power that has first worked in you and now is flowing through you.

In the presence of God everything changes. There is nothing more powerful than your private time with the Lord on a daily basis. In today’s world we must have the presence of God flowing in and through us.  Psalms 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures ever more.” In the world we live, people have to know that we are people of the presence. We are able to walk through trials, tests, and tribulations when we are stewards of the presence of God. The greatest men and women of God I have ever met all have one thing in common: they host the presence on a daily basis and have a secret place time with God daily.

God’s plans for our life are established in the presence of God. Every day we must practice the presence. Having a personal time with God is not a priority, but the priority in a believer’s life. With the presence of God, you can conquer anything the world and the enemy throws at you. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.” The presence of God is something that must be experienced. It cannot adequately be articulated to others. We cannot use words to describe the presence of God. It is something that has to be experienced.

We must be committed to live lives that are constantly seeking the Lord in prayer. If we are hungry to fulfill our purpose and walk in power, we must stay in the presence. Prayer produces presence, purpose and power!
