The Holy Spirit is breathing upon us once again.

By Elaine Tavolacci

After Jesus died and was resurrected, his disciples were gathered together in a house with the doors locked. Jesus suddenly appeared to them and said “peace to you”. He showed them his hands and his feet so that they would know that it was truly him. Jesus repeated his greeting, “Peace to you!” And he told them, “Just as the Father has sent me, I’m now sending you.” He then breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. That word breathed in John 20:22 is the very word used by the bible translators of Genesis 2:7: ‘And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

This is the same word for breath (naphach) in Genesis as in the book of Ezekiel. As Ezekiel had experienced a powerful encounter with the God, God told him to prophesy and breathe upon the dead bones and they shall live. When Ezekiel prophesied as he was told, there was a noise, a sudden rattling, and the bones came together, bone to bone. The sinews and flesh came upon them and the skin covered them but there was no breath. Then the Lord told him to prophesy to the breath and when he did as the Lord told him, breath entered into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army. The Holy Spirit is breathing upon us once again. He is empowering us to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out demons.

We are living in a time just as the book of Acts chapter 2 when the disciples were gathered together and there was a sound from heaven and a rushing mighty wind filled the room . That word for wind is pnoē which is the breath of God. Just as the winds came suddenly into the upper room, the Lord is sending His glory to revamp things in the natural realm. His breath will release dunamis power and quicken our mortal bodies. It will bring resuscitation to our spirits as he releases a fresh wind of his presence. His breath will release his very life into our beings. That which Jesus has intended for us in these last days shall be accomplished as he says “receive the Holy Spirit” once again

Genesis 2:7
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Ezekiel 37:9-10
Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

John 20: 21-22
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:2-4
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
