“When God reveals a portion of His character to you, don’t move on! Sell everything you have and buy that field.”

Corey Russell said this during the 2016 Onething conference, and it is still guiding my pursuit of the Trinity today. He was explaining the incomparable value of knowing God for who He really is. God is unsearchable yet knowable. This explains His inexhaustible vastness paired with His heart full of longing and excitement to reveal Himself to His kids. 1 Corinthians 2 talks about this.

This is why the Scriptures say:
Things never discovered or heard of before,
things beyond our ability to imagine—
these are the many things God has in store
for all His lovers.
But God now unveils these profound realities to us by the Spirit. Yes, He has revealed to us His inmost heart and deepest mysteries through the Holy Spirit, who constantly explores all things. After all, who can really see into a person’s heart and know his hidden impulses except for that person’s spirit? So it is with God. His thoughts and secrets are only fully understood by His Spirit, the Spirit of God.
(1 Corinthians 2:9–11 TPT)

We have complete access to the secrets of God’s heart, because Holy Spirit lives inside of us! Complete access! At any moment, no matter where we are—when we’re feeling anxious or full of peace, when we’re at a conference or at the grocery store—we have 100% access to God’s “inmost heart and deepest mysteries” and “thoughts and secrets.” Now this is an exciting invitation!

Every revelation about who God is carries infinite layers of invitation to know Him deeper and build stronger trust with Him.

There is no ending to His willingness to share Himself with us! Take the time to think about this for a minute. If we dedicated a lifetime to exploring the simple truth that God is love, still we would never scratch the surface of the Father’s immeasurable lovingkindness. This is glorious! This is our gift as sons and daughters—that we have the privilege of connecting with Holy Spirit every day of our lives to know the true and never-changing heart of God.

As we approach a new year, let’s reflect on the last one. Maybe God has been expanding on a specific word He’s given you, teaching you intricacies you’ve never imagined one word could contain. Maybe He has been showing you layer after layer of His nature as a good and safe Father. Maybe you’ve been diving into a part of God’s character that you haven’t been able to trust so easily. Either way, there is abundant truth that God is eager to share with you—and continue sharing with you for the rest of your life. Why? Because God is love, and God is the Word—relational and communicative in the very core of His nature (John 1:1; 1 John 4:8). Every word He speaks woos us into deeper connection with Him, that’s why He loves to speak.

The 2018 Onething conference is re-centering around the consuming reality of Jesus. It is different than years past; speakers and worship leaders are not featured this year, to refocus full attention on God, as Psalm 27:4 describes:

Here’s the one thing I crave from God,
the one thing I seek above all else:
I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house,
finding the sweet loveliness of His face,
filled with awe, delighting in His glory and grace.
I want to live my life so close to Him
that He takes pleasure in my every prayer.
(Psalm 27:4 TPT)

The Onething conference could be a beautiful conversation starter between you and Jesus for the year to come. Every word from His lips is a firm foundation, overflowing with opportunity for you to build a home upon. What God may faithfully speak to you during these four days could begin to unwrap the “privilege of living with Him every moment in His house” for the next 365 days. We love the Onething conference! But a conference cannot possibly happen every day of the year, and it wasn’t meant to. Jesus’ words will sustain you and simultaneously invite you deeper into His heart, as you return home where prayer, worship, and teaching most likely don’t happen 24/7. He is the true source and always present.

(You can read more about going from the conference experience back to everyday life in our blog From Conference to Closet, also by Sarah Watne.)

Onething 2018 is a four-day gift to be received and a re-centering experience that will invite us into deeper friendship with God for the days, and years, to come. As you are planning or deciding whether to join us at our Onething conference this year, I encourage you to ask God for a “piece of land” from His heart for you to build your home upon. He has a good gift for you, and He is thrilled to give it!

May we live in continuous communion with God in every moment this year, looking upon the loveliness of His face and living so close to Him that He finds pleasure in our every prayer.

What are you asking the Lord for in this coming year?
