I heard the Lord say, “Don’t blink!”

That’s a word for us all in this season. I prayed through this prophetic utterance on my Mornings with the Holy Spirit broadcast, which you can find here.

Let me break this down for you, though.

Blink means to look with half-shut eyes. Blink means to look with too little concern. Blink means to deny recognition. Don’t blink!

Things are going to happen in this season in the blink of an eye—in an instant. We’re in the midst of suddenly moments—a season of unprecedented opportunities. Don’t blink!

If you blink, you could miss your kairos moment. If you blink you could miss the open door standing before you. If you blink you could miss seeing what God is doing. Don’t blink!

Moses Didn’t Blink

If Moses had blinked, he would have missed the burning bush. It was only when he stopped to look that God spoke to him. I want you to see this in Exodus 3:1-4:

“One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.”

“When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’

“Here I am!” Moses replied.

Catch that: Moses was calling God. Moses could have missed his calling. He didn’t blink, rather he kept his eyes and ears wide open and God used him to liberate a nation. Don’t blink!

The Enemy Isn’t Blinking

The enemy is on high alert. Don’t blink!

Peter the apostle put it this way: “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.”

Don’t blink! If you get lazy in the spirit, the enemy can get an advantage over you. Now is the time to cultivate a spiritual awareness that makes you more sensitive to God’s Spirit. When you are more sensitive to God’s Spirit, you will better discern the enemy sneaking up from behind you. You won’t get blindsided if you don’t blink.
