What if an angels randomly started appearing to you in dreams and visions with end times messages that were beyond startling? What if their messages carried life and death implications and it was up to you to record their words for the generations to come?
It’s not only possible, it’s happened before and it will happen again. Remember, angels are essentially messengers. Both the Hebrew and Greek root words for angel is messenger. Although there are many angelic functions, as I write about in my book Angels on Assignment Again.
Again, we must remember the primary function of angels is to bring or interpret messages. Some of them are personal encouragement. Others are prophetic announcements. Still others are pointing people to Christ and His plans and purposes in the end times.
A Prophetic Vision of End-Times Angels
In Revelation 14, John heard three end-times messages from angels we can’t afford to ignore in our day. Remember, John had a prophetic vision of things to come. And most of what John saw in the Book of Revelation hasn’t yet manifested.
Revelation 4:1 tells us, “After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, ‘Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.’”
John was exiled on the Isle of Patmos, but he was not alone. He was in the spirit on the Lord’s Day and entered into an epic vision of the end-times that required conversations with angels and elders. (I teach on this in School of the Seers). Jesus told John to, “Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this” (Revelation 1:19).
John was faithful to pen his angelic encounters. In fact, angels are mentioned a whopping 72 times in the Book of Revelation. That’s over three times as often as any other book in the Bible. For reference, angels are only mentioned 21 in the Book of Acts, only twice in the Book of Daniel, and 19 times in the Book of Zechariah.
End-Times Angelic Messages We Must Heed
In Revelation 14, John records end times messages from three angels that we must not ignore. In fact, we should take heed to these messages even now.
Revelation 14:4-7 reads: “I saw another angel. This one was flying across the sky and had the eternal good news to announce to the people of every race, tribe, language, and nation on earth. The angel shouted, “Worship and honor God! The time has come for him to judge everyone. Kneel down before the one who created heaven and earth, the oceans, and every stream.”
This is a critical message for our hour. Angels will preach the gospel in the end times. Right now, it’s up to us to share the good news.
We need to be about the Father’s business, and souls are the most important Kingdom business we could be about. As we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, it should drive in us a passion to seek and save the lost like Jesus did when He walked the earth (see Luke 19:10).
Angelic Announcements the Wrath to Come
The next angel makes a prophetic announcement. Revelation 14:8 reads: “A second angel followed and said, “The great city of Babylon has fallen! This is the city that made all nations drunk and immoral. Now God is angry, and Babylon has fallen.”
Babylon, which will become the center of the financial and trade in the end times as the focal point of the One World Religion of tolerance (see Revelation 17), will propagate evil in societal structures. God will ultimately release judgment events against Babylon and the Antichrist’s empire, which will rise in Iraq about 50 miles from Baghdad.
Indeed, Babylon is rising and will keep rising until the appointed time. God is warning the Bride of Christ to “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues” (Revelation 18:4). This is a warning to have no part in the works of darkness, to consecrate ourselves to God in a world that is growing ever darker.
Angelic Warnings About the Mark of the Beast
In Revelation 14:9-12, we see a third angel immediately follow up with a dire warning. “Finally, a third angel came and shouted:
“Here is what will happen if you worship the beast and the idol and have the mark of the beast on your hand or forehead. You will have to drink the wine that God gives to everyone who makes him angry. You will feel his mighty anger, and you will be tortured with fire and burning sulfur, while the holy angels and the Lamb look on.
“If you worship the beast and the idol and accept the mark of its name, you will be tortured day and night. The smoke from your torture will go up forever and ever, and you will never be able to rest. God’s people must learn to endure. They must also obey his commands and have faith in Jesus.”
We can’t afford to ignore these angelic messages. We must rely on the Spirit of God to lead us and guide us, of course, but these angelic messages were revealed by the Spirit of God to show us things to come for two reasons: to pray and to prepare. Jesus us coming back soon. Let’s not be apathetic but on fire for the Second Coming of the Son of Man.
