Army Chaplain (Captain) Graham B. Glover is leading a mission in a non-denominational “Prayer for Our Troops,” to unite all Americans in prayer to support the men, women, and families of the U.S. Armed Services.

The prayer is posted online at AmericaUnitedInPrayer.org and people of all faith traditions are encouraged to join in collective prayer, by signing their names in support. The goal is to have at least one million names by Sunday, September 7 (the Sunday before Patriot Day / September 11).

In addition to those who join in prayer online, Chaplain Glover seeks to unite two million people in live prayer, and will be distributing two million prayer cards to various congregations around the country.

“Prayer is a universal language,” says Army Chaplain Graham B. Glover. “People of all faiths can add their voice to this prayer to show their support for our troops. Please join us in this important initiative to show all of the brave men and women who are defending out country that we care.”

A Prayer for Our Troops

Almighty God, we trust You in every hour of our need. We ask today that You protect the brave men and women of our armed forces. Watch over them as they put their lives at risk to defend our liberties. Give them strength and courage, and keep them free from harm until their safe return home. Have compassion on their families as they seek Your continued love and support.

Today and everyday, our nation honors those Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force, and Coast Guard personnel whose loyalty and courage help to ensure that peace reigns throughout the world. Together, we thank them for their service to country and their commitment to protect our freedoms.

Side by side, as American brothers and sisters, we thank You for the many blessings of our land, and pray that all Your children on earth may live together in peace and harmony. United as one, we ask this of You.

Amen.
