His Word, the Person of Jesus Christ, is to be so enwrapped in our being that we cannot get Him out, nor do we have any desire to extract Him from our existence.

By Dawn Hill

I started the New Year with something that I had wanted for quite some time. I purchased a tallit (prayer shawl), and I took it with me to our first corporate intercessory prayer time at my home church. Holy Spirit was doing something fresh in our midst that morning as we pressed into His Presence and what He was saying in that moment. As I postured myself before the prayer requests upon the altar, I covered myself with my prayer shawl. I heard the Lord instruct me to lay the tallit across the prayer requests, and as I did, He spoke this to me,

“Every request represented here is covered by my Word. My Word is the solution to every problem, every trial. My Word holds the answer to everything you will ever face.”

I wept as I sensed the Father doing something different in this moment. The moment was not reserved only on that Tuesday morning in that sanctuary, but it was a deep work that He desired to release upon His entire Bride. Holy Spirit then spoke to me about a cleansing that He desired for His people, a purification that only His Word and His Spirit could release. I want to share with you some of the revelation He shared with me that day because I desire to see what Jesus desires, and that is a Bride radiantly wrapped in His Word (Jesus) and cleansed by His Word (the Bridegroom).

Wrapped in word curses and mistranslation

The tallit is a powerful representation of the Presence of God and the Word of God. As I studied the meaning of the prayer shawl and its history among the Jewish people, I came to understand the significance of an individual wrapping themselves in their tallit. The simple act of wrapping oneself in the tallit is type and shadow of wrapping oneself in the Presence and the Word of God. As I sat in the floor on that Tuesday morning, Holy Spirit showed me that just as people wrap themselves in a prayer shawl, which represents His Presence, and as people wrap themselves in the ends of the shawl (His Word), many have wrapped themselves in words from the enemy.

Many have engrafted word curses into their lives. Some of you have been there. I know this all too well. For years, I believed the lies of the enemy, inserting words into the translation of my life and my purpose. It was easier to believe the least about myself rather than the best of Himself within me. I had to surrender to having my mind renewed, and when I surrendered, the translation changed. Many have inserted words into the translation, and by doing so, they have skewed the promises of God and the truth of His Word.

God destined us to be clothed by His Son, hidden in Christ. (Colossians 3:3) That Scripture holds more revelation than we can fathom or comprehend. His Word, the Person of Jesus Christ, is to be so enwrapped in our being that we cannot get Him out, nor do we have any desire to extract Him from our existence. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:17) He is our precious and majestic Bridegroom, and His desire is for us to be one with Him. To be one requires us to believe His Word and to deny a skewed translation of His truth.

Cleansed by the Word

During this time in His Presence, the Lord also spoke to me that there is a cleansing in this hour by the washing of the Word. Ephesians 5:25-26 has been on my heart for weeks ever since He released this to me. This passage of Scripture says, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.” His Word washes away the words He never authored.

Jesus desires to present a church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians 5:27) Again, it all goes back to being clothed and hidden in Him. We must cease and desist from wrapping ourselves in words not found in His Word. It alters our identity, and it produces blemishes.

As I write this, I see a bathtub full of murky water, and I hear the Spirit of God say that there are those who are trying to get clean in stagnant water containing the filth of yesterday. God is calling forth a cleansing by the washing of water with the word, rivers of Living water, to flow through you and out of you. You cannot get clean in your own doing. Let the Bridegroom cleanse you. Let the Living Word whisper over you and pour holy water upon you so that refreshing can come.

As God spoke to me about Ephesians 5:26, He took me to Ephesians 6:15, the passage that speaks of the armor of God. Particularly, it speaks of the gospel of peace as shoes for our feet. At first, I did not understand why He would take me to this passage, and suddenly, I saw a vision of Jesus washing the feet of His disciples before He was crucified. The revelation came flooding into my spirit that the Word, Jesus Christ, washed the feet of those who were to carry the gospel of peace. That Scripture has a new depth of understanding when you realize that you carry the Word that brings cleansing. It is not just a piece of spiritual armor, but it is His nature adorning us.

I truly believe that we are in an amazing time where the Lord is wooing us back to the place of purity. He wants the unadulterated truth of His Word reigning in His bride. He wants an uncontaminated flow, and despite what the enemy would tell you, or what your own understanding would dictate to you, it is possible to be without blemish before Him. Cleansing comes through covenant with Jesus Christ. I encourage you to wrap yourself in the truth of His Word and to allow Him to cleanse you through and through by the washing of water with the Word.
