Known prophetically as the “Valley of Decision” State, Mississippi’s claim to fame is the birthplace of Elvis. The Catfish Capital is also famous for the mighty river that bears its name and is featured in Mark Twain’s writings.
But Mississippi has been plagued with long-term problems, such as high poverty rates, jobs that pay less than the national average, racial distrust and division, and limited education services. Indeed, Mississippi has the highest poverty rate in the nation, with a median income of $23,121.
Looking through the state’s history, we find state-supported violence and institutional racism that has rippled through economic, educational, social, political, health, and religious issues. Indeed, there is much prayer work to be done in Mississippi.
This week, Awakening Prayer Hubs is praying for Mississippi.
Let’s pray:
Enter identificational repentance over the State of Mississippi for God-robbing and idolatry, including history of racial segregation, illegal bloodshed and history of wars, sexual immorality, covenant breaking, and blood sacrifices of indigenous peoples.
Bind violence, mass murder, suicide, and death. Loose life, unity, peace, and protection over the land.
Intercede for the opioid and heroin crisis in Mississippi; for exposure of drug trafficking rings and those involved brought to justice.
Pray for the uprooting of every terror cell in the land.
Intercede for Mississippi’s economic systems, including regions with high poverty rates. Declare statewide economic prosperity to advance God’s Kingdom agenda.
Bind the spirit of greed and loose the spirit of generosity; bless the state of Mississippi.
Pray for renewal and restoration of Mississippi’s education system with continued doors of opportunity to reveal God as the ultimate truth. Pray the next generation's hearts are set ablaze back towards the Father’s love and His light in them shines in darkness.
Ask God to send His angels to protect all school and university campuses within the state.
Pray the families of Mississippi are united as one in the Father’s love, causing healing and deliverance to go forth from all mental health illnesses, gun violence, teen pregnancy, poverty, suicide, and death.
Pray for Godly order within the family unit, that the Word of God would be written on the tablets of their hearts.
Pray for the healing of the land of Mississippi.
Intercede for a bold remnant who report accurate truth in the media throughout Mississippi, that they will stand and withstand in this evil day.
Pray to come against the religious spirit and the spirit of unbelief; pray for the fire of God to be released through the Church of Mississippi, where miracles, signs, and wonders abound—setting the captives free of all bondage.
Pray the Word of God is taught from a heart posture of purity and holiness within the church of Mississippi.
Ask God to send laborers into the harvest fields on all mountains of society.
Pray the harvest is receptive to how the Holy Spirit is moving this hour; that scales would fall from the eyes of the unbelievers, leading to repentance unto salvation.
Declare Mississippi rises up with an apostolic mantle, restoring order and governing according to the will of God.
Pray for righteous rulership and Godly advisors who would surround state and local government officials in Mississippi.
Decree justice and righteousness will be the foundation of the state.
Intercede for the 2024 Mississippi elections; for the election of those in state and local government office who pray for wisdom at these gates and have the character to make righteous decisions.
Pray His perfect love will continue to cast out all fear amongst His people of Mississippi.
Plead the blood of Jesus over the land, the infrastructures, and His covenant people throughout the state.
Decree transforming revival in every city of Mississippi.
