Prayers That Take Authority Over Demonic Storms

Prayers That Take Authority Over Demonic Storms

We all face storms in life. Some are caused by our choices, some by other people's choices, and some are purely demonic in nature.

God is faithful. He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. He has given us His authority to rebuke the winds and the waves. He has given us His faith to stand and withstand on the evil day–and when we’ve done all to stand (see Eph. 6:13).

God is faithful. He has given us His word which never fails (see Luke 1:37). He has given us the whole armor of God so we can combat the storms of the enemy (see Eph. 6). He has given us the weapons of our warfare, which are not carnal but mighty in God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor. 10:4-6).

God is faithful. He gave us an example of what to do when a demonic storm arises that threatens our peace, our security, our finances, our relationships, or any other area of our lives.

We find that example in Mark 4:35-41:

“On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, ‘Let us cross over to the other side.’ Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.

“And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, ‘Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?’ And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, ‘Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!’”

  • Before we pray today, let’s unpack this.
  • Was this storm sent by God? No.
  • Were the disciples in God’s will? Yes.
  • Did the disciples have the authority to rebuke the storm? Yes.
  • Did the disciples have the faith to rebuke the storm? No.

So many times we ask Jesus to do something for us that He has given us the authority to handle on our own. Jesus has already done everything He is going to do about the devil. He has delegated his authority to us so that every demonic storm must bow in His name.
