6 Ways to Break Evil Arrows

6 Ways to Break Evil Arrows

In the realm of spiritual warfare, the concept of “evil arrows” is both biblical and relevant to our walk with God today. Evil arrows are one of the enemy’s devices, and we must not be ignorant of the enemy’s devices. Understanding the nature of these spiritual arrows, their origins, and how to counteract them is crucial for living a victorious Christian life.

What Are Evil Arrows?

Evil arrows are not physical projectiles but spiritual attacks aimed at our minds, bodies, and spirits. These arrows can manifest as sudden sickness, unexplained fears, financial turmoil, relational discord, or any number of destructive events that seem to strike out of nowhere. They are targeted assignments from the enemy meant to derail us from our divine destiny, sow doubt, and diminish our faith.

Psalm 91:5-6 warns us, “You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” This scripture clearly identifies the arrows that fly by day—spiritual assaults that come at us when we least expect it.

Where Do Evil Arrows Come From?

Evil arrows originate from the kingdom of darkness, the domain of Satan and his demonic forces. The enemy, knowing he is already defeated by the blood of Jesus, still seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). These spiritual attacks can be launched through various means:

  1. Curses and Hexes: Spoken words, often by those dabbling in witchcraft or occult practices, can become spiritual arrows aimed at believers.
  2. Negative Words and Criticisms: Words carry power. Negative declarations, gossip, or criticisms spoken against us can open doors for these spiritual attacks.
  3. Fear and Doubt: The enemy capitalizes on our fears and doubts, using them as entry points for his arrows. If we allow fear to take root, it becomes a launching pad for further attacks.
  4. Sin and Disobedience: Persistent sin or disobedience in our lives can give the enemy legal ground to attack. It’s crucial to stay aligned with God’s will and repent quickly when we miss the mark.

How to Stop Evil Arrows

The good news is that we are not defenseless against these spiritual attacks. God has equipped us with mighty weapons to stand firm and extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:16). Here are key strategies to stop evil arrows:

  1. Put on the Full Armor of God: Ephesians 6:10-18 outlines the spiritual armor we need. The shield of faith is specifically mentioned as the means to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Daily, we must gird ourselves with truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God.
  2. Pray Without Ceasing: Prayer is a powerful weapon against spiritual attacks. Be vigilant in prayer, covering yourself, your family, and your circumstances with the blood of Jesus. Declare God’s promises over your life and stand in faith.
  3. Use the Word of God: Jesus Himself used the Word to counter Satan’s temptations (Matthew 4:1-11). Speak scriptures out loud that affirm God’s protection, provision, and promises. The Word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).
  4. Walk in Holiness and Repentance: Keep short accounts with God. When we walk in holiness and quickly repent of any sins, we close doors the enemy might use to attack. Confess your sins and receive God’s forgiveness, standing in His righteousness.
  5. Stay in Fellowship: Isolation makes us more vulnerable to attack. Stay connected with other believers who can stand with you in prayer, offer support, and provide godly counsel.
  6. Worship and Praise: Worship shifts our focus from the problem to the Problem Solver. It creates an atmosphere where the enemy cannot stand. Praise confounds the plans of the enemy and brings us into alignment with God’s presence and power.

While the enemy may send evil arrows our way, we have divine strategies and spiritual weapons to not only withstand these attacks but to thrive in the midst of them. Stay vigilant, stay prayerful, and stay rooted in the Word of God. Remember, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37).
