Known prophetically as the “Covenant Root” state, Virginia is one of the United States’ original 13 colonies and was a pivotal player in the American Revelation. The state is home to Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in America, and several key Revolutionary War and Civil War battlefields. Virginia produced many of the nation’s Founding Fathers, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison.

Economically, Virginia is a powerhouse. The state boasts a diverse economy that includes technology, agriculture, defense, and government contracting. Northern Virginia, part of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is a hub for tech companies and federal government contractors. The presence of the Pentagon and numerous military bases underscores Virginia’s strategic importance in national defense.

Virginia is known for its historical landmarks and cultural richness. Numerous historic sites attract millions of visitors each year, contributing to the state’s robust tourism industry. From the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia is also celebrated for its natural beauty. Education is another hallmark of Virginia. The state is home to prestigious institutions that contribute to its reputation for academic excellence and innovation.

Despite its many strengths, Virginia faces several challenges. One of the most pressing issues is managing its rapid population growth, particularly in Northern Virginia. This growth has led to increased traffic congestion, strain on infrastructure, and rising housing costs. Meanwhile, as Northern Virginia prospers, rural areas in the southern and western parts of the state struggle with job losses and economic stagnation.

This week, Awakening Prayer Hubs is praying for Virginia.

Let’s pray:

Enter identificational repentance for wars and battles fought on the land, covenant breaking of the Native Americans, a history of slavery, idolatry, abortion and occult practices.

Pray for righteous rulership of current Virginia government officials, those who have treasured God's word in their heart so they may not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11)

Pray for the 2024 Virginia elections, for Kingdom officials led by Godly wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and truth (Proverbs 8:12-21, Proverbs 28:2, Proverbs 29:12)

Pray for a total ban on abortion.

Declare justice and righteousness will be the foundation of Virginia.

Pray to come against all cyberattacks seeking to infiltrate the Virginia government.

Pray for the exposure, dismantling, and uprooting of all terror cells in the land.

Pray Kingdom leaders called to the business mountain in Virginia would use their gifts they have been given, employing them in serving one another as good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace through their business (1 Peter 4:10)

Pray that words may be given to voices in the Virginia media in opening their mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the Gospel (Ephesians 6:19-20)

Pray for Kingdom influencers in the arts and entertainment mountain who are ready to advance God's agenda.

Pray the families of Virginia would love the Lord their God with all their heart, all their soul, and all their mind; love their neighbor as themselves (Matthew 22:37-39)

Pray families in this state flee from the worship of idols (1 Corinthians 10:14)

Pray those held captive to freemasonry and other secret societies would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth; that out of their distress as they call on the Lord, He would answer them and set them free (1 Timothy 2:4) (Psalm 118:5)

Pray for the fentanyl crisis.

Pray for the Ekklesia in Virginia, that her speech and preaching is not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1 Corinthians 2:4)

Pray for unity within the body of Christ in this state.

Pray for the Gospel to run swiftly through Virginia.

Pray for the Light to be revealed in the current education system of Virginia, for no one who believes in Jesus will stay in darkness (John 12:46)

Pray for revival on all campus grounds in Virginia with students and faculty praying everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting (1 Timothy 2:8)

Ask God to send His angels of protection to surround the state, the infrastructure, and federal military facilities.

Declare revival, awakening, and societal reformation on all mountains of influence in Virginia.
