I saw a python slithering through churches in South Florida in a vision while I was ministering at my apostolic center, Awakening House of Prayer. It was doing damage to the churches, bringing division and driving false prophecy. And that was only the damage I saw.
Have you been battling intense fatigue, shortness of breath during prayer, confusion when trying to hear from God, or a pressure in the spirit that feels like you’re being squeezed? These aren’t just natural issues. You might be dealing with a python spirit. And here’s the good news: You don’t have to stay entangled. You can break free.
The python spirit is nothing new. In Acts 16:16, Paul and Silas encountered a slave girl with a “spirit of divination”—literally, a python spirit in the Greek. She followed them, mimicking their words, but twisting the truth and bringing spiritual agitation. Eventually, Paul cast the spirit out—and it stirred a backlash.
The python spirit is a counterfeit prophetic spirit. It wraps itself around individuals, ministries, and even cities to choke out the breath of God. It mimics the Holy Spirit while releasing confusion. It brings false dreams, deceptive visions, and manipulates through counterfeit prophecy.
What Python Does:
-
Chokes out prayer: It makes it difficult to speak, sing, or even breathe in prayer. You’ll feel resistance when trying to press into intercession.
-
Suffocates revelation: It clouds your mind and distorts the voice of the Lord, counterfeiting His voice with false impressions.
-
Strangles momentum: It delays and blocks your forward movement—especially when you’re close to breakthrough.
-
Incites religious warfare: Like the girl in Acts 16, it uses religious language, but it’s rooted in witchcraft, not the Spirit of Truth.
How to Break the Grip of Python
-
Repent for Alignment
Start with identificational repentance. Has your region, church, or even you unknowingly partnered with the python spirit through control, false prophecy, or religious performance? Repent. Break agreement. -
Cut Off the Head
This isn’t a time to play nice. It’s time to take up the sword of the Spirit. Declare the Word. The python spirit is decapitated by the sharp two-edged sword—when wielded with authority. “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). “I trample on serpents and scorpions” (Luke 10:19). Speak it until the coils break. -
Command the Spirit to Go
You don’t need to scream. You need authority. Say aloud: “In the name of Jesus, I sever the grip of every python spirit attacking my life. I cut off the constriction of my prayer life, my breath, my momentum, and my discernment. I evict you. The breath of God fills me now.” -
Breathe Again
Ask God to fill you afresh with His Ruach. The python attacks the breath because revival begins with breath. The dry bones lived when the breath came. Ask Him to breathe into your lungs, your spirit, and your mandate. Prophesy: “I shall live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord” (Psalm 118:17). -
Stay on Guard
Once you break free, don’t let it coil around you again. Watch for religious manipulation, false flattery, or twisted prophecies. Cultivate a lifestyle of worship, intercession, and truth. Keep your discernment sharp.
Python wants to suffocate revival. But revival breathes through yielded vessels who carry the Spirit of Life. If you’re in South Florida, or any region where religious spirits run rampant, ask the Lord to reveal the stronghold and raise up watchmen. Unity, humility, and fire will drive this serpent out.
God is breathing on His remnant again. It’s time to rise and war in the Spirit. Cut off the head of the snake.
Take up your sword. It’s time to break the grip of the python spirit.
