Get my new course, The Evil Eye: Breaking Envy-Driven Witchcraft and Curses at www.schoolofthespirit.tv/courses/evileye
Have you ever labored for a breakthrough only to watch it slip through your fingers at the finish line? Have you noticed a strange pattern of setback that seems to shadow your every advance? You may be discerning the fingerprints of the evil eye.
The evil eye is not superstition. It is Scripture. Jesus named it plainly. In Mark 7:22, He listed the evils that proceed from the human heart: "covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness." The evil eye sits right there in the catalog of defilement. It is real. It is malicious. And it may be aimed at you.
What the Evil Eye Really Is
The evil eye is envy weaponized. The Hebrew phrase is ayin ra, the eye of evil. It describes a grudging, stingy, covetous gaze that resents the blessing on another life. Proverbs 28:22 warns, "A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, and does not consider that poverty will come upon him." Envy is never satisfied. It cannot celebrate your promotion. It cannot rejoice at your harvest. It stares at what God has given you and burns.
When that envy is agreed with in the demonic realm, it becomes witchcraft. This is not the flattering attention of a friend. This is a spiritual assignment fueled by jealousy.
How It Gains Access
Here is what many believers miss. You do not have to sin to come under attack. Harassing spirits most often attach through words spoken against you, not through your own failure. Someone envies you. Someone curses you in the secret place of their heart or with their mouth. That word becomes a gate.
Paul understood this. He asked a pointed question in Galatians 3:1: "O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth?" The word translated bewitched is baskaino, which literally means to injure by the evil eye. Even the churches Paul planted were not immune. Neither are you.
Exposing and Breaking Its Power
Start with your own heart. Repent of any envy you have harbored, because the eye that envies invites the eye that harms. Then go on offense. You are not a victim of jealous witchcraft. You are seated with Christ..
The enemy studies your blessing. So study your authority. Expose the evil eye, and it loses its power to operate in the dark. Drag it into the light. Then watch every envy-driven curse break at the name that is above every name.
