You are tired. Tired of praying the same prayer. Tired of believing for the same breakthrough. Tired of standing when everything in you wants to sit down.
The enemy knows it. He is not trying to outmuscle you. He is trying to outlast you. Do not give up!
The Fight Is Over Your Faith
Paul charged Timothy, "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses" (1 Timothy 6:12).
The Greek word for fight is agonizomai. It means to contend, to struggle, to strive like an athlete straining for the prize. Faith is not passive. Faith contends. Faith strains. Faith lays hold and will not let go.
Notice what Paul called it. A good fight. Why good? Because Jesus already won it. You are not fighting for victory. You are fighting from it.
Weariness Is the Enemy's Weapon
The devil can rarely talk you out of faith in a day. He wears you down over months. He whispers that nothing is changing. He whispers that God has forgotten. He whispers that quitting would be a relief.
Jesus saw this coming. "Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart" (Luke 18:1). Always pray. Never lose heart. Those two travel together. When prayer stops, heart leaks.
Are you worn out? Then hear the promise: "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). Your strength was never meant to carry this fight. His is.
Do Not Cast Away Your Confidence
Hebrews gives you a warning and a promise in one breath: "Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise" (Hebrews 10:35-36).
Confidence can be cast away. That means it is your choice to keep it. Endurance is not optional. It is the bridge between the promise spoken and the promise received.
So what do you do when you have prayed, fasted, and stood? Paul answered: "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" (Ephesians 6:13). Having done all, stand. Stand tired. Stand trembling. But stand.
Stand and Do Not Sit Down
The enemy is counting on you to quit. Disappoint him. Pick your faith back up. Open your mouth again. Stand your ground again. You have not come this far to lay it down now. Fight the good fight. Finish the race. Keep the faith.
