Deliverance from Toxic Soul Ties: Breaking Free from the Bondage of the Past

Deliverance from Toxic Soul Ties: Breaking Free from the Bondage of the Past

Not every soul tie is holy. And not every connection is divine. Some soul ties are forged in the flesh—others are forged in hell. When God joins people together, it’s for His glory. But when the enemy yokes souls in toxic alignment, it’s for destruction. If you’ve been bound to someone emotionally, mentally, or even spiritually in a way that continually brings confusion, control, or compromise, you may be entangled in a toxic soul tie.

I’m not talking about a passing emotional connection. I’m talking about spiritual bondage. And it’s time to break free.

What Is a Soul Tie?

A soul tie is a spiritual bond between two people. It can be formed through physical intimacy, deep emotional experiences, manipulative relationships, or spiritual entanglements. God intended for soul ties to be formed in covenant relationships—like marriage and godly friendships. But the enemy perverts what God creates.

Ungodly soul ties are like spiritual cords that drain your strength, cloud your discernment, and hinder your destiny. You find yourself thinking about someone obsessively. You feel paralyzed by their opinions. You’re stuck in cycles of guilt, shame, or desire—and you don’t understand why.

That’s not love. That’s bondage.

Signs of a Toxic Soul Tie

Let me expose this demonic setup. Some signs of a toxic soul tie include:

  • You feel emotionally dependent on a person who manipulates or controls you.
  • You can’t seem to move on from a past relationship, even if it was abusive or sinful.
  • You feel “connected” to someone in your dreams or thoughts in an intrusive way.
  • You are drawn back to a person even though the Holy Spirit has clearly led you away.
  • You feel guilt, fear, or condemnation when trying to cut the tie.
  • You’re engaging in people-pleasing or idolatry in the name of loyalty or love.

If any of these describe you, I want you to know: Jesus wants to set you free.

Toxic Soul Ties Are Open Doors

Ungodly soul ties create open doors for demons of control, lust, jealousy, fear, rejection, and confusion. These ties become strongholds. The longer they remain, the deeper the roots grow. And some of you are dealing with not just soul ties, but soul chains.

But here’s the good news: the anointing breaks the yoke (Isaiah 10:27). Jesus came to set the captives free—and He is your Deliverer.

How to Break Free from Toxic Soul Ties

If you’re ready to walk in freedom, here are powerful steps to take:

1. Repent and Renounce

Ask the Lord to forgive you for any ungodly relationship, sexual sin, or soul tie you formed outside of His will. Then renounce that soul tie out loud in the name of Jesus. Your words carry power. “I renounce every ungodly soul tie with [insert name], and I break agreement with every demonic spirit working through that tie in Jesus’ name.”

2. Forgive and Release

You cannot walk in freedom with bitterness in your heart. Forgive the person—even if they never apologize. Forgiveness is your weapon of liberation. Release them from your heart, your expectations, and your soul.

3. Break the Tie

Declare aloud that the tie is broken: “I sever every toxic soul tie with [name] by the blood of Jesus. I command every demonic spirit enforcing this tie to leave now. I loose myself from every emotional, mental, and spiritual bond in Jesus’ name.”

4. Cast Out the Demons

If demons entered through that soul tie, don’t just sever the tie—evict the trespassers. Command them to go. Speak with authority:

“Every spirit of lust, control, rejection, manipulation, or witchcraft connected to this tie—go now in Jesus’ name!”

5. Fill the Void

Invite the Holy Spirit to heal and restore the empty places. Ask Him to fill you with peace, joy, and wholeness. Let Him renew your mind and restore your identity in Christ.

6. Cut Contact, If Necessary

Sometimes full deliverance means full disconnection. You may need to delete numbers, block accounts, or stop answering messages. You are not being mean—you are being obedient. Obedience is your protection.

Walk in Freedom

Beloved, your soul belongs to the Lord—not to a person, a past, or a painful memory. The enemy would love to keep you bound by toxic soul ties so you never step into your destiny. But I came to tell you today: freedom is your portion.

Galatians 5:1 declares, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Don’t go back. Don’t look back. Don’t tie yourself again to what God already told you to let go.

He’s got something better.

He’s got healing.

He’s got wholeness.

And He’s got freedom with your name on it.
