God has destined us for victory. He has created us to be overcomers in this life. He who is born of God overcomes the world and our victory is intimately connected with our faith. (1 John 5:4) We realize that God has already given every man the measure of faith. (Rom. 12:3) As well, we also know that faith “comes” by hearing and that our faith needs to be in God's words coming alive in our hearts. (Rom. 10:17) Do we need more faith? Most likely not.
Luke 17:5-6 “And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.”
The issue is the displacement of faith or faith heading the wrong direction. What we do need is faith activated in our hearts in regards to the things of God, the heart of God and what He wants to do. God enlarges what He has already placed inside of us – the vision, the scope and the reach of the possibilities of Christ in us the hope of glory.
The Power of the Voice of God
In order for us to even start to realize the power of breakthrough in our lives we have to look at the birthplace of faith. It all begins with hearing God's voice. Without hearing the voice of the Lord, His leading and instruction then we will “wander” about reasoning in our hearts with the question “why isn't anything happening?” The voice of God is foundational, the beginning, of the unlimited adventure that He has prepared for us. With this we need to also understand that it has always been God heart to speak to “you” – even all His people.
Numbers 11:26-29 “But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp. And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, ‘Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.' So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said, “Moses my lord, forbid them!” Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!”
As we see in this passage Eldad and Medad came under the influence of the Holy Spirit and began prophesying in the camp. Up to this point, for the most part, Moses was pretty much the exclusive man who spoke the Word of the Lord. Joshua wanted to protect that but Moses told him not to do so. Moses understood his job would be a whole lot easier if His people would come under the influence to the Spirit, rather than him carrying the load – even being the mediator for them. Moses' life was changed when he heard the voice of the Lord and knew others needed that as well. In a nutshell the prophetic is the “voice of God” coming to us. God has always desired this. He is looking for those who hunger for Him enough to discover this place.
Acts 2:17 “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.”
In Jesus we find the fullness of the prophetic unction poured out on those who follow Him, both men and women in the church. They shall prophesy. Again we see the heart of God in that He desires the prophetic unction of His Spirit, not only to hear the voice of God, but to release His words by the anointing of the Spirit.
Your Faith Activated
What happens when God's voice comes to us and through us in such way? Faith is created and activated. The void of emptiness – where the voice of God was not present is now filled with the substance of His Spirit.
The voice of the Lord is powerful. It has resident power to break all patterns that are contrary to His plans. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars. (Psalm 29:5) The voice of the Lord is like the sound of many waters. (Rev. 1:15) Those waters speak of the anointing of His Spirit that Jesus spoke of as rivers of living waters springing up to eternal life.
His voice is captivating stirring the waters of faith in our hearts. Without faith it is impossible to please God. What that means is we cannot please God without faith. As simple as that is the solution is doubly simple – putting God first. When we open our hearts to God's voice He is faithful to come. As we yield our hearts to His Spirit, He will fill us. All this that we may have intimacy with God because true faith is only birthed through our relationship with Him.
What Do You Really Value?
I heard someone say years ago that a prophet is simply someone who has found out how to get close to the heart of God. How intimate a relationship can you have with the Lord? As intimate as you choose. It all comes down to what you value the most. You spend time with that which you place the most value on. Where does your time go? Where does your focus go? This is the beginning.
You may say that you are hungry and need to eat. Ok. What does it take to do that? You have to go to the grocery store. Then what? You have to get a cart. Then what? You have to put some items in the cart. Then what? You have to check out and pay. Then what? You have to take it home and prepare it. Then finally you get to eat it! No fast food allowed. Don't forget to clean the dishes! You get the point. It doesn't just fall out of heaven. You have to do something. Pay the price.
Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
But once this foundation is laid then His voice comes, then faith comes. Faith comes by hearing and by hearing the word, or “rhema” (Hebrew) of God. This is not the “logos” (Hebrew) but the living active and personal word that God has specifically for you. You have to hear God personally. Living faith is activated in your heart because the light has come on, the spirit of revelation is opening up your eyes to see in a new way.
Voice-Activated Breakthroughs
His Voice comes and faith is alive. Once faith is ignited in your heart what happens next? It is time to do something with it. This is where your breakthrough comes and the breakthrough for others. Faith is like a bomb that needs detonated – it needs released! Like a hand grenade you have to pull the pin and throw it somewhere! Blow up that wall of resistance. Breakthrough into that new place.
What are you believing for? It does not matter what area it is because faith, even as tiny as a mustard seed, has the ability to move mountains. It can be healing, finances or just breaking the oppression off of your life.
Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Did you know you are in a battle? You are in a battle whether you want to be or not. We are told to put on the full armor of God. Why? Just to look good? No. There is a adversary out there looking for someone to devour. Guess what? He has your name on his list! Just like everyone else.
1 Peter 4:12–13 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.”
You are not alone. Don't think it is strange or just you if you are going through a trial or being tested. But you have to realize that fighting is not an option, it is a must!
God gives you a sword, a shield, a breastplate and all the other armor assets that you may be victorious. Pray in the Spirit with all supplication. Take your authority in Christ. Stand your ground. Use the power that is in His Name, His Word and do it with your relationship in tact. Get as close to God as you can. Don't settle for mediocre. Go for the gusto in God! Be all that He has created you to be. He who is born of God has the seed of victory already on the inside. Victory is not an option it is a lifestyle!
John 16:33 “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
