Sickness is a thief. It steals your strength, your energy, your focus, and sometimes even your faith. But Jesus didn’t die on the cross so we could live under the oppression of sickness—He bore our infirmities and carried our diseases (Isaiah 53:4-5). So why do so many believers accept sickness as a normal part of life? It’s time to rise up in faith and drive sickness out of your body!
Recognizing Sickness as a Spiritual Attack
Not every sickness is just a natural occurrence. Some afflictions are demonic attacks designed to slow you down, shut you up, and wear you out. In Luke 13:11-13, Jesus encountered a woman who had been bound by a spirit of infirmity for 18 years. The religious leaders saw a medical condition, but Jesus saw a demonic bondage—and He cast it out. Some of the sicknesses afflicting believers today are spiritual in nature, and if you don’t discern the root, you won’t win the battle.
The enemy loves to plant thoughts in your mind like:
- “This runs in my family; I just have to live with it.”
- “Maybe this is my thorn in the flesh.”
- “I guess this is just part of aging.”
No! The devil is a liar. The moment you agree with sickness, you give it permission to stay. But when you resist the enemy, he must flee (James 4:7)—and that includes sickness!
Engaging in Aggressive Faith
Faith is the currency of heaven, and healing is already paid for by Jesus’ blood. But you must contend for it! The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34) had suffered for 12 years. When she heard about Jesus, she didn’t sit back and hope He’d come to her. She pushed through the crowd, reached out, and took her healing by faith. Jesus didn’t say, “My power healed you.” He said, “Your faith has made you whole.”
Are you contending for your healing, or have you passively accepted sickness as your reality? It’s time to activate your faith and go after your healing with the same desperation that woman had.
Driving Sickness Out with the Word of God
The Word of God is a weapon against sickness. Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.”
The Word is medicine! But just like natural medicine, you need to take it regularly. Start declaring healing scriptures daily:
- Isaiah 53:5: By His stripes, I am healed!
- Psalm 103:3: He heals all my diseases!
- Matthew 8:17: He Himself took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses!
Speak these scriptures out loud. The enemy attacks with words of fear, doubt, and discouragement, but you can drive him out with the Word of God.
Commanding Sickness to Leave in Jesus’ Name
Jesus never prayed long, drawn-out prayers for healing. He commanded sickness to leave!
- He rebuked the fever in Peter’s mother-in-law (Luke 4:39).
- He told the paralytic, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk” (John 5:8).
- He cast out spirits of infirmity with a word (Matthew 8:16).
You have the same authority in Christ! Jesus said in Mark 11:23 that if you speak to the mountain, it will move. That includes the mountain of sickness. It’s time to open your mouth and command it to leave:
“In the name of Jesus, I rebuke this sickness! I command every spirit of infirmity to go! I declare that by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed! I evict sickness from my body right now!”
Closing the Doors to Sickness
Healing is not just about getting well—it’s about staying well. If the enemy finds an open door, he’ll come right back in. Jesus warned in John 5:14, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” Some open doors to sickness include:
- Unforgiveness: Bitterness poisons the body (Mark 11:25).
- Fear and Stress: Anxiety weakens the immune system (Proverbs 17:22).
- Poor Stewardship: Are you neglecting your temple? Sleep, diet, and exercise matter.
- Speaking Death: Your words have power (Proverbs 18:21). Speak life!
Worshiping Your Way to Wholeness
Worship is warfare! When you exalt Jesus above your sickness, His presence manifests in power. Many have been healed simply by soaking in worship, because where the Spirit of the Lord is, sickness cannot remain.
Next time the enemy tries to put sickness on you, lift up a song of victory:
“I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies!”
“You are the God that healeth me!”
“I speak Jesus over my body, over my mind, over my health!”
Praise confuses the enemy and breaks chains. Lift your voice in faith, and watch sickness flee!
Your Healing Is Now!
Don’t wait for a feeling—stand on the Word. Don’t wait for symptoms to disappear—command them to go. Don’t let sickness define your life—let the Word of God redefine it. Jesus already paid the price. Now, it’s your time to rise up, resist the devil, and drive sickness out of your body in Jesus’ name!
