Fear is a liar. It whispers half-truths and empty threats, hoping you’ll bow down and surrender your courage. But here’s the thing: bowing to fear doesn’t make it disappear—it only empowers it.
When you cower, you give fear a foothold. You give it room to grow and dominate your mind, emotions, and spirit. The enemy is counting on your compliance, hoping you’ll submit to his intimidation tactics. But we are not called to shrink back in the face of fear. We are called to stand firm in faith.
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
When you bow to fear, you’re trading the spirit of power for a spirit of intimidation. You’re trading your sound mind for anxiety, and you’re handing over your peace to a spirit that has already been defeated. The enemy will keep knocking as long as you keep answering the door.
But hear me clearly: Fear only has the power you give it. The antidote to fear is not retreat but resistance. James 4:7 says, “Submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Standing against fear is an act of faith. It’s trusting in the God who goes before you, who fights your battles, and who has given you authority over every scheme of the enemy.
You can’t defeat a spirit by bowing to it. You defeat it by rising up in the boldness of Christ. You defeat it by speaking the Word of God into the atmosphere, reminding yourself and the enemy of your God-given authority. “Though an army encamp against me, my heart will not fear” (Psalm 27:3). That’s the stance of a warrior. That’s the posture of someone who refuses to bow.
So today, if fear has been creeping in—whether it’s fear of failure, fear of the future, fear of rejection—stand against it.
Don’t negotiate with it. Don’t reason with it. Don’t let it linger.
Stand in your authority, rebuke it, and declare victory over it in Jesus’ name. Fear has no place in your life unless you give it one. Bowing to fear won’t make it go away, but standing in faith will make it flee.
