Known prophetically as the “Breakthrough” state, West Virginia is rich in natural resources, such as coal and natural gas. The state has historically been a major coal producer, supplying a significant portion of the nation’s energy needs.
West Virginia’s forests contribute to the timber industry, fueling construction and manufacturing. The state’s agriculture sector, particularly livestock farming and apple orchards, contributes to the nation's food supply.
West Virginia is renowned for its rolling Appalachian Mountains, dense forests, and scenic rivers. The state is also known for its historic sites, such as Harpers Ferry, which played a significant role in the Civil War and the abolitionist movement.
Education and research are significant in West Virginia, with institutions like West Virginia University contributing to advancements in fields such as healthcare, engineering, and energy.
Despite its many strengths, West Virginia faces several natural and spiritual challenges. The decline of the coal industry, for example, has left many communities struggling with job losses and economic stagnation.
Healthcare is another significant challenge. West Virginia has some of the highest rates of chronic diseases, including diabetes and heart disease, in the country. Education is also a concern. Many K-12 schools face funding shortages and resource limitations.
This week, Awakening Prayer Hubs is praying for West Virginia.
Let’s pray:
Repent of bloodshed, shedding of innocent blood, idolatry, covenant breaking, sexual immorality, and participating in the occult.
Pray families in West Virginia keep the commandments of the Lord, walk in His way, and fear Him (Deuteronomy 8:6)
Speak life over the families and the land.
Pray for the Gospel to run swiftly through every mountain of societal influence in West Virginia.
Pray for showers of blessing to come down in their season upon the education mountain in West Virginia as biblical truth and values are reintroduced back into the education system (Ezekiel 34:26)
Pray for the hearts of students and faculty within the school and university campuses, that by the mercies of God, they would present their bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is their reasonable act of worship (Romans 12:1)
Pray for the Church in West Virginia to rise up and praise His works to another, and declare His mighty acts (Psalm 145:4)
Pray to come against the religious spirit and the spirit of unbelief. Loose the fire of God to burn everything that hinders love and that is not of the Lord.
Pray for righteous rulership within the West Virginia government who are praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful; rightly dividing the word of truth (Ephesians 6:18; 2 Timothy 2:15).
Pray for the 2024 West Virginia elections, for elected state officials who lay aside every weight and sin which so easily ensnares them and running with endurance the race that is set before them (Hebrews 12:1).
Pray West Virginia passes a total abortion ban.
Pray for the dismantling of all drug trafficking rings and that God would bring confusion to the enemy's camp (2 Chronicles 20:22).
Pray for the uprooting of every terror cell and freemasonry stronghold across the state of West Virginia.
Ask God to send His angels of protection to surround the state.
Declare justice and righteousness will be the foundation of West Virginia.
Pray for truth-telling voices in all sectors of media in the state who are awakened out of their sleep, blow the trumpet, and stand watch to pray (Romans 13:11)
Pray for West Virginia business leaders who will commit their works to the Lord, so their thoughts will be established (Proverbs 16:3)
Declare revival, awakening, and societal reformation throughout the state of West Virginia.
