Seven years ago today, I made one of the boldest moves of my life up until that point—a step of faith that seemed like madness in the natural, but one that I knew was obedience in the spirit.
I resigned from Charisma magazine on Oct. 30. 2017, where I was honored to serve as the first-ever female senior editor in its 40-year history.
This wasn’t just a job; it was a calling for that season. It was a position that opened doors and gave me influence. It was stable. But there was a tugging on my spirit, a call from heaven that wouldn’t let me go. God was calling me into the “next” He’d shown me months before, and I knew it was time to move.
Leaving was not an easy decision. The enemy doesn’t make it easy to step out in faith, especially when he sees the impact your obedience can have on the Kingdom. But I remember what the Lord spoke so clearly to my heart: “When you look back twenty years from now, you aren’t going to wish you’d built a bigger magazine. You’re going to wish you had invested in building My Kingdom.”
That Word settled it for me. Since I worked in media my whole professional life, I was comfortable on that mountain and leading the charge for media projects. But that paled in comparison to the eternal weight of Kingdom work. I knew the Lord was calling me higher.
Since then, my life has been transformed in ways I couldn’t have dreamed. And, by the grace of God, I launched Awakening Prayer Hubs, a movement now in over 100 nations, bringing militant intercessors together to press in for revival in their cities and beyond. I’ve built houses of prayer, raised up prophetic voices, and created School of the Spirit, an e-course platform that equips believers to walk in the fullness of their calling. Each step required surrender, each initiative demanded faith, and every move came with spiritual resistance.
The warfare increased tenfold when I stepped out from Charisma into full-time ministry and international travel. But when you know your calling—when you’ve heard the voice of God—you can stand firm. Obedience doesn’t make the warfare go away, but it gives you the authority to overcome it. There were times I had to cling to God’s promises just to make it through the day. I had to learn to press in, to press on, and to pray without ceasing, knowing that His grace is sufficient.
Today, I want to encourage you—especially if you’re at a similar crossroads. The world may only see what you’re leaving behind, but God sees what you’re moving toward. If He’s calling you to leave behind the comfortable and the familiar, know that He’s calling you to something greater. You don’t have to understand it all; you just have to trust Him. There will be opposition, yes, but there will also be an anointing to break through.
Beloved, saying “yes” to God is worth it. Every battle. Every step. Every prayer. I am living proof that when you obey the voice of the Lord, He will take you places you never imagined. He will open doors no man can shut, and He will make a way where there seemed to be none.
I have a new vision for 2025, so stay tuned!
So today, ask yourself: What is God calling you to leave behind to build His Kingdom? And when He calls, don’t look back. Walk forward, knowing that He is with you, that His angels surround you, and that His Spirit will guide you into His perfect will. Let your “yes” resound in heaven and shake the gates of hell. I promise you, it’s worth it.
