We are living in an hour where passive Christianity won’t cut it. The days of sitting back, hoping the enemy won’t notice us, are long gone. The enemy has already marked you. He’s already strategizing against you. And if all you’re doing is reacting to the blows he lands, you’ll live in survival mode instead of thriving in the victory Christ paid for.
That’s why we need to understand the concept of offensive warfare.

What Is Offensive Warfare?
Offensive warfare is not about waiting until you’re under attack to fight back—it’s about taking the fight to the enemy before he strikes. It’s proactive. It’s aggressive. It’s prophetic. Offensive warfare is when you don’t just guard the gates—you storm them.
When David ran toward Goliath with nothing but a sling and a stone, that was offensive warfare. When Joshua marched around Jericho, blowing trumpets and shouting before the walls even fell, that was offensive warfare. When Jesus confronted the devil in the wilderness with “It is written,” He was demonstrating offensive warfare. He didn’t wait for Satan to overtake Him—He confronted and dismantled the deception head-on.
Offensive warfare is about identifying enemy strongholds and tearing them down before they’re allowed to entrench themselves in your life, your family, your city, or your nation.
Why Is Offensive Warfare Important?
-
Because the enemy is already strategizing.
The devil doesn’t sleep. He’s not casually observing. He’s walking about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. You are either his prey—or his problem. Offensive warfare ensures you are a problem. -
Because reactive warfare is exhausting.
Always fighting from a place of retreat will wear you out. You end up living in cycles of attack, delay, and recovery. But when you go on the offensive, you break cycles. You strike first. You disrupt enemy operations before they have a chance to manifest in the natural realm. -
Because God is a Man of war.
The Lord is not passive. He’s not hesitant. He’s not waiting for demons to wear you down. Exodus 15:3 says, “The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is His name.” You were made in His image. You were born into a spiritual warzone, not a playground. Offensive warfare aligns your posture with His heart. -
Because territory must be taken, not just defended.
You can’t fulfill your destiny if all you’re doing is holding the line. There’s land to possess. There are souls to rescue. There are altars to tear down and thrones of iniquity to dismantle. Offensive warfare expands the kingdom. It’s how revival fire spreads. It’s how the atmosphere shifts. It’s how thrones fall. -
Because some demons don’t move until confronted.
There are territorial spirits, generational spirits, and witchcraft powers that won’t back off unless you confront them. You can’t wish Jezebel away. You can’t ignore Python and hope he stops squeezing. You must engage—and you must engage strategically and forcefully. That’s the essence of offensive warfare. -
Because we’re in a war of advancement.
Jesus said, “I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). Gates don’t move—we do. That means the Church was built to advance, not to hide. The gates of hell can’t withstand the pressure of an advancing, militant ecclesia.
A Final Warning
Offensive warfare is not for the spiritually lazy. It’s not for those who want to play church. It’s not for those who refuse to fast, to pray, or to discern. Offensive warfare requires maturity, boldness, and a solid foundation in Christ. If you don’t know who you are or whose you are, you’ll step onto the battlefield unarmed and unaware—and that’s a dangerous place to be.
But for those who know their God, the Word promises: They shall be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). If you’ve been waiting for permission to shift from defense to offense, this is it.
This is the season to take the war to the gates.
