You did nothing wrong. You prayed. You believed. You put your hand to the work, and it began to prosper. Then, with no warning and no reason you could name, you got attacked.
You are not imagining it. It could be retaliation from someone who is watching your life with an evil eye.
The evil eye is not superstition. It is Scripture. Jesus named it plainly. In Mark 7:22, He listed the evils that proceed from the human heart: "covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness." The evil eye sits right there in the mouth of the Son of God. It is real. It is malicious. And it is time we brought envy to its end.
Envy Weaponized
The evil eye is envy turned to enmity. It is the Greek baskaino, meaning to injure by the evil eye, to bewitch through a jealous gaze. It is the word Paul used when he pressed the churches, "O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth?" When envy is agreed with in the demonic realm, it becomes witchcraft. And witchcraft is never content to watch. Envy stares. Envy resents. Envy works to steal.
Understand how it operates. It does not always come from a stranger. It rides in on jealousy from someone near, someone who cannot celebrate your promotion, someone who cannot rejoice at your harvest. The evil eye targets your increase. It contests your advance. It aims at the very thing God is blessing.
An Assault, Not a Whisper
Some assignments are not broken by a polite prayer. They are broken by an all-out assault. The evil eye does not retreat because you asked nicely. It retreats when you rise in the authority of Christ and refuse to surrender one inch of your inheritance.
Hear the mandate. Jesus said, "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force" (Matthew 11:12).
Passivity Is Permission
Understand this. To do nothing is not neutral. To do nothing is to agree. When you ignore the evil eye, you hand it a license to keep operating. Silence over your life becomes consent for the curse. The enemy is not intimidated by your patience. He is emboldened by your passivity.
This is why the fight must be spiritual. Paul reminds us, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12).
You are not battling the person who envies you. You are assaulting the spirit that drives them. And you carry the weapons to win. "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Rise and Retaliate
So do not shrink back. Do not wait it out. Do not hope the envy simply loses interest. "Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). The evil eye came against your increase, so answer it with an assault it cannot survive. The enemy studies your blessing. So study your authority. This is why we must war. This is envy's end.
