(By Jason Armstrong) What are the Ides of March? On the Roman calendar, dates were marked by their lunar phase using three markers: Kalends (Kal), Nones (Non) and Ides (Id). The first phase of the moon ,the new moon, was denoted by Kalends and signified the first day of the month; the first quarter moon fell during the fifth or seventh day of the month and was referred to as Nones; the full moon appeared during the 13th or 15th day of the month and was referred to as Ides.
March was the third month on the Julian calendar, but on the old Roman calendar it was the start of the new year. The new year's festival was normally held along the banks of the Tiber River during the ides of March. There would be a feast and sacrifices to the Roman goddess Annna Perenna for health, prosperity, and happiness for the upcoming year. The Ides of March are probably best known for being the time frame of the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44BC. A conspiracy of 60 Roman senators, led by Gaius Cassius Longinus and Marcus Junius Brutus, in an effort to prevent Caesar from turning the Roman republic into a tyranny.
While in prayer back on Feb.16th, I felt prompted to pay attention to this upcoming season of mid march. I believe what the Lord was highliting to me is that there will be certain conspiracies brought to light. Things that have been constructed behind the scenes will be revealed. Just as Haman prepared gallows in the shadows, I believe plots in private will be made public. Plots of assassination (natural,spiritual,and character assassins) will even come to light. I even believe on a national level there will be things revealed during this time frame. As believer's we must contiue to pray and seek the Lord regading our current and future leaders. (1Tim.2:2) This is not a time to be moved by fear. This is a time for believers to be fervent in prayer. We know that it's the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous that avails much. (Jas.5:16) What this nation needs most is the intercessory prayer of the righteous on its behalf. So let's pray for one another, let's pray for the leadership in our churches ,and let's pray for our current and future leaders of this nation.

Pslam 83:2-4 “See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads.With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.“Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
