There is an invitation before each of us, right now, to come up to the mountain and ask for the fire to consume us.

God's All-Consuming Fire

Recently one Sunday, as I was praying over someone, the fire of God hit me—causing my legs to come out from under me. I immediately began to burn inside and shake on the outside. As I placed my hand upon this person's back, I saw a vision of fire going into his very being. This fire went to every place where darkness had been assigned within him.

The first flame ignited over the “assignments of darkness” upon this person, consuming and purifying the places that darkness had touched. Then it moved like a wildfire of purity and holiness—igniting every part, even the light. Pure fire put out every impure and unholy fire that had been ignited by the enemy in this man's soul. But the pure fire didn't stop there; it went to every place—even the good places—and ignited him to be “a man that dwells in the fire of God.”

There have been “assignments of darkness” sent against the sons of God—an unholy fire, to keep them from “dwelling in the fire of God.” God is sending a pure and holy fire upon these ones that will transform them, so that they can dwell in the beauty of their King.

Then I heard the words from Isaiah 33:14-17, “…Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning? Those who walk righteously and speak what is right, who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes, who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against contemplating evil— they are the ones who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress. Their bread will be supplied, and water will not fail them. Your eyes will see the King in His beauty and view a land that stretches afar.”

The “everlasting burning” in this verse is not Hell, but rather is speaking of God. God is an all-consuming fire, and we are to become ignited so that we are fully consumed in Him. We are to become like Him by allowing the fire of God to consume all darkness and flesh so that we will walk righteously, speak truth, reject evil, and begin to dwell in the high places.

I love this profound quote by Alexander Maclaren, “The fire of God is the fire of love as well as the fire of purity; a fire that blesses and quickens, as well as a fire that destroys and consumes. So the Apostle John comes with his answer, not contradicting the other one, but deepening it, expanding it, letting us see the foundations of it, and proclaiming that as a holy God must be surrounded by holy hearts, which will open themselves to the flame as flowers to the sunshine, so a loving God must be clustered about by loving hearts, who alone can enter into deep and true friendship with Him.”

The Mountain Where God's Fire Dwells

What is the answer that the Apostle John gives? It is this: “…he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God…” (1 John 4:16).

This is the high place that He is calling His children to dwell in. He is calling us to come to the high place where we will encounter the “burning bush” of His love, which will consume and purify every dark place—igniting even the light within us with the fire of His love. You will become a person who dwells in the fire of God.

There is an invitation before each of us, right now, to come up to the mountain and ask for the fire to consume us. He will respond to our faith that says, “Yes!”

It was upon the mountain, where Moses stood before the burning bush that introduced him to I AM. It was there that Moses began his journey “to be the man who would set the captives free.” We too, must ascend to the mountain of God to be consumed by Him and His love, so that we too will see our captivity overthrown; and we will be prepared to set the captives free. To truly love, we must become love, and must be consumed by love.

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples.” (John 13:34-35)

John the Beloved knew love; he knew the consuming love that sets the world free. You are invited into this love that will consume the darkness that has been sent against you and against the world. Deliverers are arising—men and women who dwell in the fire of God. Where they go, darkness is consumed.

I declare and prophesy the fire of God and the fire of His love upon you this day!
