You pray. You fast. You sow. You stand. And still, every time breakthrough gets close, something pushes back. The door slams. The deal falls through. The healing stalls. The same fight that showed up in your father’s house shows up in yours.
That is not random. Sometimes it is an evil altar.
Altars Are About Agreement
An altar is more than a pile of stones. The Hebrew word for altar is mizbeach, which comes from zabach, meaning to slaughter or to sacrifice. An altar is a place of sacrifice. A place of exchange. A place of agreement. Whatever is served at the altar gets a voice.
Godly altars speak. Hebrews 12:24 tells us we have come “to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” The blood of Jesus has a voice, and it speaks mercy, redemption, and victory over your life.
But evil altars speak too. Idolatry built them. Witchcraft feeds them. Generational covenants, word curses, ungodly vows, and agreements made in ignorance keep them burning. And what they say is always the same. Delay. Defeat. Lack. Sickness. Shame.
Gideon’s Ground Zero
Before Gideon could lead Israel into deliverance, God gave him an assignment at home. Judges 6:25 says, “Now it came to pass the same night that the Lord said to him, ‘Take your father’s young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it.’”
Notice the order. Tear down before you rise up. Gideon did not start with Midian. He started with his father’s yard. Israel’s oppression was not only a military problem. It was an altar problem.
Here is the application. Some of the resistance you face has nothing to do with your faith level. It has everything to do with an altar still standing somewhere in your life, your family line, or your past agreements. You do not need to fear it. You need to deal with it.
Why Pray It Loud?
Why loud? Because altars speak, and you need to speak back. Volume does not impress God. But your words matter. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Isaiah 54:17 declares, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord."
Every tongue. Not some. Every. You condemn it, not by shouting in your own strength, but by agreeing out loud with what God has already said. James 4:7 gives you the pattern: “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Submit first. Resist second. Watch him run.
Your words are weapons. Your mouth is a witness. Your mouth is where agreement with heaven becomes audible on earth.
