We’re in a new era—and not just in the church. The 2020s will see the beginning of what in some sense you could call a global realignment.
We’ll start seeing the realigning of nations, political parties, and churches and that process will extend throughout the decade and even beyond. Some of those realignments will be marked by violence. Others will bring greater peace.
One of the first will be the realignment of Great Britain. I prophesied several times since 2016 that Brexit is the will of God for the United Kingdom. The UK will serve as a forerunner of national realignment as Brexit—the British Exit from the European Union—is completed.
Global political power will shift. The United States will wane in global influence unless the church in America rises up in prayer and restores the foundations of Christianity. Meanwhile, China will continue its rise in power in attempts to rival the U.S. and usurp our authority as the policeman of the world. Islamic nations will push for power through violence, which is nothing new, but more horrifying violence is planned.
All of this is positioning the world to see a fuller manifestation of Matthew 24:6-8, in which Jesus said:
“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
I’m not an end-times prophecy expert, but I can say with assurance that the global realignment of nations is setting us up for that those final days.
Political parties will also realign. You’ll see Democrats jump ship to become Republicans. You’ll see value shifting in party platforms. You’ll see many unlikely candidates from societal mountains that have nothing to do with government politic for power. Some of those candidates are sent by God and others sent by the enemy to jump on the new era political bandwagon where anyone can and will run for office on various levels of government.
We will also see realignment in churches. Mega churches as we know them will start waning in popularity over the next decade as people look for greater connection. Those who realign with a family focus that puts faces over numbers will survive and thrive and ultimately birth many smaller churches where true community can be sustained.
The church at large will see a clear line drawn between those who allow the Holy Spirit and in and those who shut Him out. Seeker-friendly churches will serve the purpose of drawing in the lost, but will not sustain revival with a robotic flow that leaves no room for the Spirit of God to move in power. As 1 Corinthian 4:20 says, “The Kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” The Passion Translation puts it this way: “For the kingdom realm of God comes with power, not simply impressive words.”
