A joyful heart is something that everyone desires to have, and according to Proverbs; having a joyful heart is like good medicine. But sometimes, life will throw things on us that will steal away the joy and peace we have. So here are three important habits that we should do to keep the joy deep within us.

1. Be with Jesus

Above everything, above every tip, Jesus should always be on the number one list, for apart from Him we are all nothing. He is the only One who can give life meaning; for He is the source of everything.

Jesus is everything that we need; He is the exact representation of God; He is the Word of God that became flesh. If you want to know Him more, spend more time reading your Bible, and never cease asking the Holy Spirit for fresh revelations.

“You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalms 16:11)

In the presence of God, there is the fullness of joy, and we cannot deny that. Since God, is the source of Joy, it is natural for us to extract happiness from Him, because He alone can give that.

Meditate on His words, pray every day, develop your spiritual life, deepen your relationship with God.

2. Have an attitude of gratitude

Enter into the throne room of God with thanksgiving; His throne room is His presence.

It gives Him pleasure to see His sons and daughters thanking Him in every situation. Thanking him even when things aren’t favorable, only shows and proves our trust in Him.

When you thank Him in the midst of problems, trials and any situation that you can’t control, it will give you peace.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Command yourself to always give thanks to the Lord, no matter what you’re facing and feeling. Disciple your emotions, do not let it control and overpower you.

3. Stay healthy

Staying healthy does not only mean being physically healthy, but it also means being healthy in a holistic way. In all areas of life, we need to be healthy, may it be physical, emotional, and mental. Since our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, it’s important to take good care of ourselves.

Stay positive, do not worry, trust God, and do not overthink, rest assured that when God is within you, He will never leave you.

Maintain your emotional wellness, stay away from anything that disturbs your peace. Live in the present, do not worry about the future but plan it and present it to God.

Love what you do as long as you’re doing it for the glory of God, and do what you love, excel, and develop your skills.

Eat healthily and exercise daily.

Keep your joy, decide to have a joyful heart every day, and may these things helps you find your true happiness that can only be found in God.
