I’m not conspiracy theorist. Nevertheless, we do read about conspiracies in the Bible. There are demon powers that lay crafty plans against God’s people—who consult together against God’s treasured ones (see Psalm 83:3).

A conspiracy is an agreement among conspirators. Conspirators are people—or demons—that plot against God’s will for your life, to cause you to stumble and fall, and to steal, kill and destroy your pursuits. One who conspires engages in a secret agreement to do wrong against you. Sounds just like the devil, doesn’t it.

Jeremiah faced conspiracies (see Jeremiah 18:18). The Pharisees were demonically-inspired to have Jesus killed—and their conspiracy succeeded. Herodias had James, the half-brother of Jesus beheaded and Peter was lined up as his next victim until the conspiracy was thwarted through intercession. Legalists also held an unholy fast vowing not to eat until Paul was murdered (see Acts 23:12-15).

Let’s not forget Nehemiah. Nehemiah faced enemies conspiring against him. Nehemiah 4:7-9 points to Sanballat and Tobiah, as well as the Arabs and the Ammonites. They were angry because Nehemiah was working to build the walls around Jerusalem. Scripture tells us they joined forces in a conspiracy to fight against Jerusalem and cause confusion in it. Nehemiah refused to bow to their threats and God prospered his work.

Esau go the short end of the stick in the short-term. Jacob fooled him not once but twice. Isaac told Esau, Jacob’s elder brother, to go out and hunt some game, and return to feed him a meal so he could impart a blessing before he died. Isaac’s wife Rebekah overheard the conversation and entered into a conspiracy with Jacob to steal the blessing. Jacob stole Esau’s birthright on his own, but he conspired with his mother to steal the father’s blessing.

What does that tell you? Sometimes the devil will even motivate your own friends and family to conspire against you. This is why we need discernment. A spirit of betrayal has been loosed in the earth and people who were once with you can turn suddenly against you. But the Bible is clear: “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him” (Proverbs 26:27)

If you discern a conspiracy against you, pray these prayers:

I decree demons who have dug a pit for me will fall into it.

I decree demons who roll a stone against me will have it roll back on them.

I decree the gallows prepared for me will hang the enemy.

I decree he who breaches a wall will be bitten by a snake.

I decree no weapon formed against me shall prosper.

I decree every conspiracy that raises up against me shall fall in shambles.

I decree demons plotting against me shall perish in their purpose.

I decree no demonic counsel against God’s Word over my life shall stand.

I decree every knee must bow to the Christ in me.

I decree greater is He who is in me than he that is in the world.

I decree every conspiracy against me is broken up and broken down.
