While governmental intercessors have been rising up to pray for the 2020 elections in the States, some prayer warriors stay out of politics altogether.

With the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg on Sept. 18—and a monumental Election Day that is only days away—we’re in an “all-hands-on-deck” moment in the intercessory prayer movement. We’re at a tipping point we’ve long waited to see.

Now is a moment in time to create intercessory synergies in the spirit with a targeted focus on strategic warfare prayer over the government and, yes, the political process. Don’t let the word “politics” deter you. Politics is nothing more than governing the affairs of man. Remember, when the righteous rule, the people rejoice (see Proverbs 29:2).

What am I saying? Pro-life intercessors, social justice intercessors, seven-mountains intercessors and even concerned Christians who have never considered themselves intercessors need to join hands in the spirit and raise up a collective voice to heaven that urgently presses for God’s will to come to pass in the United States of America. (Read that again slower.)

Everyone is a Hinge Intercessor Right Now

I decree by the Spirit of God it is time for hinge intercessors to rise up and push for political victories that increase God’s government (see Isaiah 9:7). That includes God’s candidate for President of the United States and God’s choice for the U.S. Supreme Court after Justice Ginsberg’s passing.

Everyone is a hinge intercessor right now. What is a hinge intercessor? Hinge intercessors are turning point intercessors. God uses turning point intercessors at strategic times in history—indeed, for such a time as this. Esther was a turning point intercessor. Her intercession made a massive impact on history, saving the entire Jewish race.

Turning point intercessors are positioning themselves at the crossroads of history, standing in the gap and positioning a person, place or nation for godly change. Although you may make many types of intercession over your life, turning point intercessors are alert and activated for a key moment to make the right petition at a critical moment. God is activating turning point intercessors now with an anointing and a grace to press through to victory.

Battle of the Century

Politicians will not solve the problems in the United States or in the world at large—at least not alone. But politicians are either change agents in the hands of the enemy or change agents in the hands of God. The reality is, once they are elected we are subject to governing authorities (see Romans 13:1-2). Just because God establishes authorities doesn’t mean they follow His leadership. We must pray.

Although our citizenship is in heaven (see Philippians 3:2), we are stewards of the lands where God has assigned us. We are charged with a Great Commission to preach the gospel and disciple people—even nations. Leadership of countries—and of industries for that matter—matters. Prayer changes things.

The United States is at a tipping point in not only her history but world history and I believe the bowls of prayer answers could tip over in the first year of the Decade of the Decree—if we respond rightly. The enemy is nervous because he knows we’re on the brink of taking back some spiritual land the has stolen little by little over nearly a century.

One president or one Supreme Court justice will not solve all the problems, but it may give us more time to preach the gospel with freedom and give intercessors the encouragement to continue pressing into prayer until we see the prophesied Third Great Awakening that brings transforming revival and ushers in the Billion Soul Harvest. It’s an invitation to see God’s mercy in the new era.
