Clearly, we’re in a new era. Some months ago, the Holy Spirit started showing me something about this new era—the age of miracles.
As times and seasons prophets, we need to be accurate in the spirit with regard to chronos and kairos times. An age is a period in history. That period is usually marked by a notable factor, such as the age of dinosaurs or the atomic age. An age of miracles, then, would look something like the days when Moses was showing Pharaoh many wonders, or when Elijah and Elisha walked the earth or the apostles moving in the Spirit in Book of Acts.
We’re not in the midst of it yet, but we’re entering into it. We’ve been authorized to walk in signs, wonders and miracles and some are. But the Holy Spirit is inviting the hungry to walk through a new era door into ageless, timeless miracles. Wonder-working power is readily available now, but many will have to break through their risk threshold to walk in it.
The Miracles of Moses
As viruses and plagues increase in the earth, we’ll see Moses-like miracles manifest through the hand of deliverance prophets with a heart to set the captives free. In this age of miracles, Moses worked healing, stemmed the tide of judgment, performed signs and more.
Perhaps Moses’s most notable miracle was the parting of the Red Sea. The Israelites were fleeing from the rule of a Pharaoh but found the Red Sea in front of them and the Egyptian army behind them. They had nowhere to go when the Lord told Moses to stretch out his rod. The faithless Israelites were ready to die, but Moses encouraged them to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. God told Moses:
“Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. And I indeed will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them. So I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen. Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen” (Exodus 14:15-18).
It was just as the Lord said. Moses continually worked miracles to provide for the Israelites—manna, qual and water from a rock—as they walked in the wilderness. God is going to raise up Moses-like miracle workers to deliver people from the evil of the age and into the promises of God. The result will be a free people who are prepared to contend for the will of God for their lives.
These Are the Days of Elijah
Elijah and Elisha were the main figures in another age of miracles, with the latter performing more miracles than the former. Elijah caused the rain to cease and prayed it back in again. He raised the dead, he parted the Jordan and more. Elisha worked healing miracles, restored the eyes of the blind, prophesied a birthing to a barren woman and more.
God is raising up miracle workers in the spirit of Elijah and Elisha that will work miracles of provision in times of famine. With talk of food supply chains being disrupted, this could be a necessary flow. Both Elijah, Elisha and Jesus multiplied food or cleansed food that was corrupted. There was a widow down to her last bit of flour and oil when the Lord led Elijah straight to her doorstep.
“And Elijah said to her, ‘Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah” (1 Kings 17:13-16).
Book of Acts Miracles
We would be remiss not to look at the Book of Acts miracles. Jesus said, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Jesus also told His disciples to heal the sick and raise the dead (see Matt. 10:18)
We know Paul did many unusual miracles—”even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them (Acts 19:11). Peter’s shadow healed people (see Acts 5:15). There were so many miracles done in the early church, they weren’t even included. Remember, Jesus said we would do greater works than Him (see John 14:12).
The reality is, you don’t have to be a Moses, Elijah, or a Paul to work miracles. That’s never been the case. In this age of miracles, all you need is faith to step out and see the wonder working power of the Lord. Are you ready to enter the age of miracles? Get equipped. Build yourself up in your most holy faith. Step out and take a risk.
