Why I’m Praying for Bill Cosby—and Those Accusing Him of Rape

Why I’m Praying for Bill Cosby—and Those Accusing Him of Rape

My jaw dropped this morning when I read about the fifth woman to publicly accuse Bill Cosby of sexual abuse. My first prayer: Father, let the truth come out.

Model Janice Dickinson flat out accused the comic genius of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 1982. The revelation came during an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight (ET).

“Stuffing feelings of rape and my unresolved issues from this incident has [driven me] into a life of trying to hurt myself,” Dickinson, 59, told ET co-host Kevin Frazier. The model, who has struggled with substance abuse for decades, set out to tell her story in a 2002 book but claims Cosby and his attorneys pressed her and publisher HarperCollins to veil the truth.

A Powerful Prophetic Promise for the Weary

A Powerful Prophetic Promise for the Weary

If perception is reality, then a godly perspective of your trials and tribulations can deliver you from your worst enemy: your own unrenewed mind.

I can't tell you—and, in fact, I'd probably be embarrassed to admit—just how many times I've allowed the perspective of my unrenewed mind to dictate my thoughts, feelings and emotions in the midst of what I perceived as overwhelming pressure. I can't tell you how many times I didn't think I could take another step; how many times I felt like giving up, calling it quits, throwing in the towel—and moving to some remote tropical island where the devil was less likely to find me.

Then after completely discouraging myself (instead of doing what David did and encouraging myself in the Lord), I discover that the pressure isn't as pressing as my perception of reality made it out to be. I was foiled by the enemy that is my unrenewed mind. I took the bait—hook, line and sinker—by looking at the smoke and mirrors of circumstantial evidence through eyes weary from the spiritual battle. (Can I get a witness? Surely, I'm not the only one.)

Your Real Worst Spiritual Enemy Is Closer Than You Think

Your Real Worst Spiritual Enemy Is Closer Than You Think

“Give me the reins.” I'll always remember when the Holy Spirit spoke those four words to my heart. It was clear He wasn't asking for one “rein” he wanted all my “reins.”

Of course, I immediately thought of a horse's reins. The rider uses the reins as a restraining influence to control the animal with his guiding power. That example coupled with Scripture offered me insight into what the Holy Spirit meant—and delivered me into a new level of freedom in Christ.

When David invited Jehovah to, “Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart” (Ps. 26:2 KJV), he was speaking of his emotions. The Hebrew word translated reins in this verse means “seat of emotion and affection.”

What Myles Munroe Taught Me About Miracles

What Myles Munroe Taught Me About Miracles

I've had to report on the deaths of many great men of God over the years—and each of their lives and deaths impacted me. When I got the call that Myles Munroe and his wife, Ruth, were killed in a private plane crash on their way back to Grand Bahama on Sunday night, it was as difficult to believe as when David Wilkerson was killed in a car accident on April 27, 2011.

After reporting on the tragedy, I could not sleep Sunday night. Since then, I have been thinking about a 90-minute phone call I had with Munroe some years ago during which he downloaded revelation about the kingdom of God that forever changed my life. The wisdom he offered about manifestations of the power of God, the need for spiritual fathers, teaching versus preaching, breaking down barriers between races and cultures, networking, apostles and prophets, how God is moving in music and the biggest challenges he saw in the body of Christ stayed with me and has helped shape my thinking.

Potty-Mouthed Princesses Dropping F-Bombs for Feminism

Potty-Mouthed Princesses Dropping F-Bombs for Feminism

I am absolutely against exploiting women, but please explain to me how prancing potty-mouthed elementary school-aged princesses in front of a video camera dropping F-bombs to fight feminism is anything less?

My jaw literally dropped open watching a video of five sweet-faced little girls serving as poster children in a campaign to empower feminism. The girls, between ages 6 and 13, were dressed up in princess costumes and spewing explicatives that I refuse to print here.

These little darlings were vehemently angry about the way society treats women, pointing out pay inequality, sexual assault, a hyper-focus on looks and even rape. The children, for example, cited chilling statistics that I've heard many times before: 1 in 5 girls will be raped or sexually assaulted by a man. That is tragic and disgusting. Nevertheless, filling young girls' mouths with filth for shock value is not going to stop pedophiles and rapists.

What Sadie Robertson Could Teach Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj

What Sadie Robertson Could Teach Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj

Christian celebrities like Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus have strayed away from the way their parents taught them to go, but at least one rising star is bucking the immorality trend in her teenage years: Duck Dynasty's Sadie Robertson.

Sadie, daughter of Willie and Korie Robertson, is a breath of fresh air and she lets the breeze blow on the masses with her new book, Live Original: How the Duck Commander Teen Keeps it Real and Stays True to Her Values. Sadie's key message boils down to this: Christian values.

“Sadie Robertson represents everything that a well-adjusted teenager should be, even while growing up in the spotlight on Duck Dynasty,” the book marketing blurb reads. “She exhibits poise, respect for her family and friends, and a faith that influences her choices. Everyone wants to know how a family as eclectic as the Robertsons are raising such confident, fun, family-loving kids. With this book, Sadie sheds light on the values instilled by her family that make her the person she is.”

Is Giving Someone the ‘Silent Treatment’ Really Like Witchcraft?

Is Giving Someone the ‘Silent Treatment’ Really Like Witchcraft?

Spiritual witchcraft is real and I've written plenty about it in recent weeks because the spiritual climate tightens in the midst of demonic fall celebrations like Halloween. But there's another type of witchcraft that is ugly in its own right. It's not altogether demonic—but it's certainly carnal—and it still wreaks havoc on the lives of Christians who receive it.

I offered up this post on my Facebook page last week after noticing how much carnal witchcraft is in the church:

“Did you know the silent treatment (which is the stubborn refusal to talk to someone, especially after a recent argument or disagreement) is a form of witchcraft? Witchcraft is sometimes a spiritual force, but it's also a work of the flesh listed in Galatians. Intimidation is a form of fleshly witchcraft. Purposely ignoring people to 'teach them a lesson' can be a form of fleshly witchcraft. Manipulation tactics, like pouting and crying to get people to do what you want or make them feel guilty, are forms of fleshly witchcraft. I can tell you this, folks won't get far with Spirit-led Christians playing those sorts of flesh-driven games. We'll pray for you but we won't bow to manipulation. 1 Samuel 15:23 … Rebellion to God's Word is as the sin of witchcraft. Trying to punish people with manipulation is rebellion. Can somebody say amen?”

Exposing—and Battling—Satan’s Deadly Trio

Exposing—and Battling—Satan’s Deadly Trio

I had been on the mission field in one-hundred-degree weather in a nation known for its false gospel for more than a week—and battling principalities and powers every step of the way.

Laboring to take the Good News to a nation where the spirit of Jezebel wields an especially wicked influence brings an onslaught against your mind and sometimes even unpleasant manifestations in your body. I was not wrestling against flesh and blood, but it sure felt as though I had been in a heavyweight boxing match at the end of some days.

Granted, I was unprepared for the level of spiritual warfare I would encounter in a nation where the effects of witchcraft regularly make headlines. And I was not yet acquainted with the way the religious spirit impels us into morphing the image of Jesus from One who delivers to One who demands super-human performance to find His favor.
