When you become a Christian and decide to invite Jesus into your heart, did you know that you are actually inviting Him to come live inside of you? The reality is that you are actually co-dwelling with the presence of God – every moment of your life.On the day of Pentecost after Jesus ascended into Heaven, the disciples were gathered together in one place when all of a sudden the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ promised “Helper”, came like a rushing wind “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.” (Acts 2:4)
“And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” (Isaiah 54:13)Too many Christian parents today are wasting time worrying about their children.Years ago, Gloria and I saw the devil trying to get a foothold in our children’s lives, so one weekend we got our concordance and four or five translations of the Bible. We began to search out scriptures and write out agreement prayers concerning them. We tore into the devil with the Word of God and started saying, “Thank God, our children are not going to hell. Thank God, they are taught of the Lord and great is their peace!” Instead of walking the floor and worrying about the problem, we walked the floor and praised God for the solution.
Growing up, my home was a very toxic place to live. My parents were abusive toward each other and also toward me and my brothers and sisters. I remember going to church a lot—it seemed like we went every day for hours at a time. But yet I remember going home after church and being whipped with an extension cord and the metal part of belts and hangers and feeling unloved, feeling unimportant, and thinking that I didn’t want anything to do with church if this is how people treated the ones they’re supposed to love when they returned home.My parents were constantly splitting up and getting back together. My dad stumbled back into a drug addiction and would beat up my mom so terribly that her face would be unrecognizable to us. Life was hard as a child growing up with so many siblings and so much turmoil. We were a poor family, and when my dad would leave we had even less income. I remember many nights going without dinner and being so hungry that we would climb over the neighbor’s fence to pick their oranges just to have something to eat.My father was out of the house most of that time, so my mother was struggling as a single mom with seven children and having to do everything on her own—many times without money or a car. My mind started going into very dark places thinking about ending it all. Around the age of 13, one day after being bullied all day at school, I came home to find my mom very angry and she whipped me for something as silly as not cleaning the kitchen right. So after the beating, I went to my room, closed the door, found a pair of scissors and stared at the scissors for quite a long time. I heard in my spirit, “Cut your wrists. End it all. It’s better for everyone if you just go away.” And then without hesitation I sliced at my wrist with the scissors until blood began to drip out and in some twisted way I felt at the time that what I did made living better.
I believe we’re in a kairos moment in the body of Christ. We’re seeing major ministries shift all around the world. The Call, IHOP, YWAM, Christ for All Nations…You can add my ministry to that list.As some of you may know, I recently returned from Singapore and Indonesia. I have never endured such an attack on my mind and body at the same time in my entire life.In the midst of the attack, the Lord told me a major shift was coming. I imagine the enemy saw the markers of a shift—a kairos moment—in the spirit and was resisting it.
What is “the anointing”?Uncomfortable favor. That’s what she (Renee Evans, who with her husband, Joaquin, are our senior leaders at Bethel Austin) prayed over me the other day after telling her about my startup business. “Uncomfortable favor”. And I readily received the grace that was heavily imbuing that prayer – to attract the anointing!I’m looking for that kind of surprising, awe-inspiring, hope-strengthening, chicken skin-producing, courage-enabling favor of God. I need His anointing to do those things He has put into my heart through encounters, dreams, whispers, lightning flashes from Bible, preaching and teaching and worship and prophetic moments at my church and elsewhere. The rhema word of God to my heart. Don’t we all?So how do we attract this favor, this anointing, this gift of power and grace? Can we do anything that causes the heavy hand of our God to rest on us more and more, day by day? I want more of Him, and I know you do, too!
I kept hearing in the Spirit, "I call forth the law of establishment." It would not leave me but cycled for many minutes. The Spirit of the Lord had me declaring it out in our prayer meeting, and I knew there must be more revelation to come forth. Establish is defined in Webster's as "to set up on a firm or permanent basis."I had just finished prophetically teaching my group that when a revelation comes into your soul and spirit that you need to pray it out but also that you need to pray into it. I was teaching them that often the Lord gives us revelation through declaration. As we are caught up in the moment and in the spirit praying and speaking out and declaring out, the very thing in which we are receiving to speak out could be a word of knowledge from our heavenly Father. When something cycles in your spirit man, press into it to see if there is more revelation our Father desires to distribute to us.As I pressed in, the Lord shared this prophetic word:
You may have seen the shocking news coverage of a nation still submerged after Cyclone Idai. According to the BBC at least 300 people are now confirmed dead due to the “catastrophic flooding” and others are still “clinging to roofs or stuck in trees.”The network has described parts of Mozambique as having become ‘an inland sea.’“We are 15 miles from the sea, but it feels as if we are right over it,” BBC Africa editor, Fergal Keane said during a helicopter flight over some of the worst-affected areas.
The instant you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the Bibles affirms you underwent a supernatural metamorphosis, which transformed you from your old self into a new person in Christ (see 2 Cor. 5:17). This process, known as “regeneration,” provided you an eternity in God’s presence, but it also offers you exciting and powerful new ways to live today. Here are four of the supernatural changes that can have a profound effect on your everyday life.
I have found the prophetic gift, including inspirational preaching, teaching, and prophetic words, to be the most edifying of all the gifts — as St Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14. However, with every true gift of God comes either a counterfeit and or an abuse. You can say that about all of the cluster gifts mentioned in Ephesians 4:11. The prophetic gift can especially be very dangerous if left un-checked, since people think the words spoken are directly from God and will often obey them without question or the use of discernment. Based on all my years of studying and observing many facets of prophetic ministry, the following are ten signs of prophetic abuse and manipulation.I write this to serve as a guide to increase the level of discernment and true edification in the body of Christ. All sincere Christ followers should welcome these warning signs. If they are truly endeavoring to serve the Lord, they will welcome correction and or desire more discernment in the Church.
